I would really like to get a HRM, however I can't afford the $100+ for a polar. Does anyone have a cheaper brand that works well and is quality?? Or am I better off just saving up for a while to buy a spendy one. I would really like to get one soon though, looking for thoughts and suggestions of a cheaper monitor that will work until I can step up.

If you search topics, you will find MANY topics on HRM, costs, etc.

Countless times I've seen people buy a cheaper model, only to later buy the polar. IMHO, I think the polar is the best way to go - you don't have to get the most expensive one (top of the line), but a polar with chest strap is awesome (I personally have a polar and love it.)

So, MY opinion is to save up for a quality HRM because you really do get what you pay for :flowerforyou:

I just noticed them recently over in the sporting good section, near the free weights and home equipment. They were in packaging on shelves (not out on display).

Target carries them, too. I saw one that was $35 & one that I think was $60

I have the Polar F4 & it is a little cheaper than the F6 (I got it on sale at a local sporting goods store for $75 after tax). If you do NOT go to a gym, the F4 is fine. The F6 prevents interference from other people's HRM's. I just workout in my living room so the F4 works fine for me.
