How many calories are in a cup of potatoes?

The option on here says 44. That can't be right!

    It depends on if it is raw or cooked. Whole or mashed.

    I cross-check calorieking.com when I am not sure.

    I generally weigh food to avoid this confusion; a cup of something solid leaves room for air holes making it take up less volume, which is why volume isn't the best measure for solids.

    There's no way a cup of potato, whether raw or cooked, is only 44 calories. If it were I'd be eating 6 cups a day.

    USDA definition of a cup of potatoes ranges from 150 to 300 grams.

    As USDA and others say, weight is more accurate than volume. Do you have a food scale?
