If you are like myself and Type 2, then ALOT of the info on the web concerning diet and weight loss just won't help you. The "Gurus" today are more concerned with helping the healthy. I have written Dave Zinczenko <Men's Health>, Bob Harper <The Biggest Loser>, and Jillian Michaels<The Doctors>, and begged them to do some tips for adult onset diabetics. But alas, NO ANSWER. So My advice is to stick with what your Dr tells you to do, and exercise, exercise, and oh yes, Exercise!!! But high carb, high protein diets, and Oatmeal, Rice, and the likes of it that were all reading about lately?? Go ahead but be ready for that 7+ A1C..LOL I wish SOMEONE (yes even here) would devote a little time to those that really need help (Diabetics, epileptics, etc) and not just those that are generally healthy and just overweight! <Stepping off my soapbox now trying not to twist my ankle!>

  • good post, well now that you know where there is a need. maybe you can be the stepping stone and start researching and be the one to help others in what you are experiencing. I wish i knew more about that kind of information but I don't.

Yeah we've been fighting that with my husband (he's type 2). Getting his diet to a healthy mix of food he likes and food that helps him has been a challenge but he is already taking half the meds he was when we started October 23rd so I have hope for no meds by summer. Feel free to add me as a friend, I would love to see how your journey works out and maybe we can trade tips.

I think you'll find as far as diet is concerned that one low in overall carbohydrates to be beneficial to start the reversal of insulin resistance and Type 2 D. Add exercise to that, and you should see some real improvements.
