 I am wondering if you do the exact same workout one in AC, fan blowing all cooling tricks afforded, versus hoodie pulled up, sultry environment, etc. but your HRM says you burned 300 calories in both sessions...What is the advantage to perspiring?:explode:

You get to look a douche0

There isn't. Unless you freak out over temporary water weight lost and think it's a good thing. Beyond that, perspiring is just the way the body regulates temperature when you get warm. It doesn't offer any real benefit as far as the actual exercise is concerned.0

visibility of sweat=workout bragging rights.
That's about it.0 -
Dehydration negatively affects your performance. Just don't do it.0

There is one advantage. Your body is able to work more efficiently at cooler temperatures. So, if you are training for a competition in warmer weather than you will be competing at you will be able to perform better as an end result. Studies have shown that runners do 25% better when they train in hot humid weather and compete in cooler climates.
Personally, it isn't worth it. If it's hot, fine. I'll still work out but I'm going to be in a tank top and shorts.0 -
I always work out in long pants and long sleeved shirts but that's because my gym's AC makes it feel like the arctic.0

Thank you all! That confirms what I felt but I know some people freak out if the fan barely stirs the air around them but I have to be cool or else I may as well hang it up. And I don't care for the wet grunge look, especially if I have to make a quick stop on the way home from the gym. Merry Christmas all:flowerforyou:0
