Exercising. *dramatic sigh* I have managed to lose 50 pounds with virtually no exercise. It's been awesome. I'm SO lazy. But now I'm flabby, it's gross. Just discovered there is a pool right down the road from me and it's only about £10 a month to use! i actually like swimming. Would swimming be enough to tone me up, or should I do more? I'll be going everyday from the New Year.

Swimming would be perfect. Its a full body workout and doesn't eat up a ton of time. Most importantly it sounds like its something you would look forward to doing and would fit into your life easily since its close and affordable.
Its super rewarding to get comfortable being in your bathing suit and then see your body get even better looking in it as the weeks go by.0 -

There's pretty much always "more" anyone could do when it comes to fitness. Since you're just starting to exercise I would stick with only swimming for awhile. I get the enthusiam of wanting to go everyday, but its new, so take it easy. Rest days are important.
Go one day and take the next off, stretch on that rest day. If you're feeling good the morning after the rest day then by all means swim again. Every other day might work for you. I just cringe when anyone wants to jump into exercising everyday.
See how your body reacts, keep watching your nutrition and make little changes in it so you have enough of the right kind of fuel. Don't start to think 'oh i worked out, i can eat whatever/however i want" And remember, muscle weighs more, take measurements to see if you've toned up. And check how your clothes fit.
You're gonna love it!0 -
i was there! i lost weight for a steady 6 month period... but once i started exercising it just kept FALLING off. and it really helped tone my extra flab... lol. for me, it's not a question anymore. i exercise 6 days a week, sometimes twice a day. my days are incomplete without it. find something you LOVE to do! i love insanity and turbo kick... i also love to run... but i hate boot camp! i don't prefer zumba either.... so regardless of what's the "best" workout... it's more important if you LOVE it. swimming is SUCH a full body workout.... so if you like it, go for it!
EDIT: since you're just starting out... take it slow and don't overkill... you can burn out easily!0
