I have an addiction

It is an addiction to sweets.

When I have them I am alive and I feel like myself.

Without them I am a dead person and I go into a very angry stage.

Today we went shopping and we went by the candy court, which had loads of candy. I was able to avoid them, but that was because I was chewing gum furiously.

For Christmas I will be making a blueberry cobbler and I will possibly have a honeybun cake. HOW IN THE HELL AM I SUPPOSED TO STAY UNDER OR AT WITH THIS HAPPENING?

Well I haven't had my bad eating day this week, sooooooo

  • First things first. If you really feel that you have no control when it comes to sugar, then admitting it (which you've already done) is a good first step. What's great about talking about it is that there are many, many other people who are fighting and living with the same addiction.

Hopefully, there'll be some people with some good avoidance tips, but the only advice I can give you is to eat mindfully. When you find yourself reaching for the sugar-addled foods are you feeling sick or stressed? Did you just have an argument? Are you feeling lonely or tired? Are you hungry? These can all be triggers to reach for an addiction (sugar, cigarettes, alcohol, etc.) And the holidays can magnify all of these things.

Hang in there, though. It can get better.
