When it started to look achievable it was all I could hope to do to – my Christmas present to myself – and I’ve done it!
I successfully followed Lighter Life for 4 months, some 6/7years ago, and lost over 5st (72lbs to be precise) but never completed the maintenance so I ballooned back up to above my starting weight plus some. I’m not an advocate of the slower you lose the slower it goes back on. To me it’s all about re-educating the mind and knowing what you should and shouldn’t eat and remembering what your trigger foods are – what I’ve always struggled with and how I’ve failed before.
It means so much that I’ve managed to lose what I have to date. I still have a way to go – before I’m a healthy weight and can accept how I look again – but I’m on the right road and know I can do this.
There have been obsticles in the way. I wrecked my knees when I was younger playing too much netball so since about the age of 23 I’ve been told by doctors and physios I shouldn’t swim or run (running is a complete no-no) and walking long distances is meant to be out. I tore both Achilles tendons in 2008 so that means I have to be careful with what I do there too. I’ve used both injuries as an excuse for a long time and the downward spiral of weight gain I’ve been on has made me nothing but miserable.
It’s unlikely I would have found MFP without inspiration from the success of one of my oldest and dearest friends, InstantSunshine. Lady you truly rock! Yes, it was me who put in the hard work but you encouraged me to start on my journey and I can’t begin to tell you how grateful I am. I’ve also picked up some friends on here and their encouragement has been invaluable, thank you guys.
Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and here’s to an amazing and very successful 2012 for each one of us :drinker:

Blush... I love you mate, and I'm so happy you're here and finding success. You're doing amazingly and you're inspiring me to stop slacking - which I've been doing for a while now. You have a great Christmas as well - I'll see you tonight for many of these: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker: :drinker:0
