Hi... I'm going to begin training for my first half marathon and have been looking for a good 16 week plan..... any recommendations? Also.... generally at what week do you think is best to taper down?

Hey! Good for you! I'm also a fan of Hal Higdon. I used his plans for every half I've trained for and also for Chicago. Good luck!0

Hal is good. The most important thing is just sticking to it especially the weekly long run. Don't worry if you miss a couple shorties though, life happens!0

Oh and about taper... I think for your first half do the last longest run 10-14 days before and then just 7 or 8 miles one week before and then only short ones the week of the race but give yourself 2-3 days of no running at all before your race.0

Thanks for all the input guys! I had been looking at the Hal Higdon.... it's good to have a little confirmation. Also - thanks for great info on the tapering down. Hope everyone had a great Christmas and was able to be around family and friends..0
