HRM Calorie calculation

Merry Christmas everybody! I have a question about HRMs, or more specifically Polar FT40. When it calculates my calorie burn, is that the total calorie burn, including what I would've burned without exercising, or is it the extra calorie burn from the exercise?

it is the calories burned during that time that you have it on. everything. i wouldn't worry about subtracting your resting/BMR calories from that time frame. an HRM only guestimates how much you burn by taking age, gender, heart rate, etc, into account. and even your BMR is an estimation. no need to go nuts trying to be super accurate as far as how many calories your are using.
if there is one area that you want to be as accurate as possible with, its food. measure/weigh EVERYTHING.
hope this helps!0 -
yeah thanks! I think my food logging is pretty accurate, as you say, I do measure and weigh (almost) everything0

I normally take off 100 calories per 1 hour of workout time from the total and sometimes I even round down that figure. I find it safer to under estimate the amount of calories burned from exercise than to over estimate.
EG : 645 - 100 = 545 = 500 logged for the workout0
