I have been off of MFP for a while, and even when I was on it previously I was not diligent. I need to combat this weight issue. I need to lose at least 200 lbs. I need workouts (suggestions) on things I can do or somethings others have done. I know I need cardio but when I tell you I hate the treamill(I HATE THE TREADMILL). I have a gym membership that I have been paying on since April, but I only used it for Zumba classes. I think I have information overload, I've been told to do so many different things by so many different people I don't know where to start. One lady at the gym told me to only do cardio and nothing else, Ive been told to eat normally and just go to the gym to make going to the gym a habit, then I can tackle me food. I want to do it at the same time. I just need some advice!!!

I KNOW that MFP will help you, if you make the committment. If you don't like the Treadmill, keep trying new exercises until you find one that you LOVE. Start out with small changes, and small Goals as far as how much time you will devote to exercise. When you find what "Fits" you will start increasing your Exercise Minutes because you enjoy them.

I can tell you from my experience that if you start going to the gym everyday and working hard, you will start to want different foods. I was close to 300 pounds when i started, I love to eat. So when i first started I was eating pretty much like normal but going to the gym everyday. After a little while my body started craving different foods. I still eat things I used to, Pizza, ribs etc for dinner but I eat less of it and I eat a lot different on other meals. My advice would be to just start somewhere. Start going to the gym. Start changing your diet a little at a time. First start eating a healthier breakfast, then add healthy snacks in between meals then tweak your lunch. Eventually you will get where you want to be. You have to remember that we didnt put on weight overnight, its not going to come off overnight. Start small, work your way from there.0

I know it is difficult to lose .... but doing baby steps at first is what I did....I logged each little thing even if I went over....it helped me see where I could change small things at first....and I would do small walks in the neighborhood ...and now I do long walks and I use to hate the treadmill but now I enjoy it....
you can add me as a friend if you would like

Does your gym have a rowing machine, it works most of the muscle groups, and if you have ever rowed a boat it's easy to get good form for the best burn. I just put my music on, close my eyes and pretend I am rowing across any lake I ever rowed in a boat. Also have you ever tried circuit training? Great strength training and if you need to lose 200 then start slow with lower weights and work up. I have been working out at home but recently felt like I needed to step up my game so made the decision to cut something else out of my life and add in gym time. Forgot how fun it is. Food wise, my doctor has me on a 7 servings of fruits and vegetables and lots of protein but she also has me limited to 1500 sodium, yikes, talk about challenges, lol. However, I have a lot of fun finding low sodium high quality proteins. Foster farms is finally marketing no salt added chicken, my family says they don't really notice the difference. Become a hell of a label reader, if you are buying prepared food be cautious, look for fat, sodium, and sugar, all hidden issues. Read the MFP forums but be careful of listening to any one school, they all have their own "religions" of weight loss and can be quite passionate that their way is the only way. The only way you need is "your" way, You are unique so take all the ideas then make they into your own "religion". Johns Hopkins has an excellent website with real medical advice, I often cross check unreferenced statements from MFP on their website and a couple of other medical websites. Well there's a few starter ideas and feel free to add me as a friend if you read all that stuff.0

You need to start and find your own way. Cut out junk foods as much as possible. Exercise a few times a week with a mix of cardio and weights. Other than that, speak to your dr.0

I lost my first 40lbs with just three 20 minute walks a day at a slow pace...and counting every calorie I eat...along the way you eat food that is good for you and you are motivated by MFP friends along the way...I know you can do This...The drive has to come from you! Keep the Focus & Finish Strong!

I know where you are coming from about the treadmill. I have bad feet and knees and can only walk or stand for short periods. I do sprints on it or the elliptical machine. I usually use the cardio setting and try to keep my heart rate around 70 to 75 percent. This way you sprint from 15 to 30 seconds at a fast pace. I try to go as fast as long as I can. then the rest of the 2 to 3 mins I go at the pace to keep my heart rate in the zone. I usually only do it for 6 to 15 minutes. Then I go and do some circuit training and supper sets with weights. This burns more fat and keeps your heart rate up because you don't rest between sets. You can add me and I would be glad to help. Also my diary is public and you can look at it. Just click the blue button at the bottom that says "exercise diary" to see my workouts last for the last week.
