EA Sport Active Transmitter issue

I just got my hubby the EA Sport Active for Wii for Christmas and the blinkin' thing didn't work because the Wii couldn't find the USB transmitter.. anyone else have this happen to them? (Put it in the computer and the computer didn't find it either.)

I'll ask my hubby what he did with ours. We've had our EA Active for a year as of today.
