Ripped In 30 - Questions...

Hi All,
I am about to start Jillian Michael's Ripped in 30 DVDs. Just looking for some advice from anyone who has done this series...
1.) I think the DVD says to do it 5 days a week... Do you follow this, or do you do it every day??
2.) Do you solely do the DVD, or do you do other exercise along with it (and how much has the DVD contributed to your success)?
3.) I was reading in previous posts that this DVD is good for toning vs. weight loss... I still have about 35 lbs to lose, is it a bad idea to start this DVD now?? Should I wait until I am closer to my weight goal??
I appreciate all your help!!!

I'd like to know this too. I am in the final level of 30DS and wondering if I should have done things differently. I have done it everyday of the week and paired it with my normal 2 mile walk/day. not seeing a huge loss (-4lbs) and waiting to do my measurements next week when I complete the program.
I also have about 35 lbs to go, feel free to add me. Looks like we are in similar boats. :-)0 -
Hello! R30 is a lot of robbing. It recommends like all Dvds 5 to 6 days. But I have done it 7 days a week. I have not done the entire. Days. But now I am doin banish fat which is cardio. I will do an hr of cardiograph 6 days a week till I reach my mini goal of 140. 27lbs to go! I will readjust my goal from there to my final goal of 120! Once I reach my goal ill do my toning. Thy means ripped in 30, 6wk 6pck, and no more trouble zones.0

I just got ripped in 30 from a friend for christmas, and was going to start it in january. I had wanted to start c25k as well, but I think both at once would ne too much to do AND keep up with a energetic toddler all day! I might alternate them every other day, or I might just wait to do one or another. I have three days left of the 30 day shred, and it has worked great former. Im curious to see what others have to say.0

I do it as many days as I can, some times I'll do 7 days or sometimes only 5. I aim for at least 4x a week.
2.) Do you solely do the DVD, or do you do other exercise along with it (and how much has the DVD contributed to your success)?
I solely do the DVD (well, I walk my dog daily for about ~30 minutes and do about 2 hour walks on the weekends). Since doing her DVD I've lost 15 lbs and gained muscle! (Granted, I've done 30 Day Shred as well).

I finished up RI30 last week. I absolutely love it. I didn't do 30DS. It is good for toning (like you said), but muscle is good for weight loss. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn during the day. This was my first DVD in a while. It was hard to get back into the swing of working out, but I love how motivational Jillian is. I was cursing at her through the tv a few times, but I felt really good after each work out.
I did them 6 days, rested a day, then started the next week. (let me know if you can get through the first cardio portion on week 2.. that ones is a killer). I liked that she uses the 3-2-1 method (3 min strength, 2 min cardio, 1 min abs). It was nice to change it up and I always felt challenged.
I incorporated some Zumba in after some of the workouts (when I felt up to it) to get a little more cardio in. But, it was by no means every day. Some days I would be so worn out from RI30 I couldn't even imagine doing anything else. LOL.
I lost about a total of 6 lbs while doing the RI30 program (i didn't take before measurements so I can't give you inches). I'm 5'4" (5'5" on a good day... lol), currently 169 lbs, I was pretty sedentary before starting RI30.
I think it's a great program and you'll love it! If you think you're not ready for it, then I would wait. But give it a shot and see how you like it.
Good luck!0 -
I am on Day 2 of Ripped in 30, and am loving it! But I have a question, which is probably the same as above but just to clarify - Ripped in 30, you do it over a 30 day period but not necessarily for 30 days solid workouts, i.e. 6 days workout and 1 day rest = 7 days of RI30? I am thinking of doing RI30 mon-fri then doing other workouts on the weekend, so does it mean I have to do this over six weeks (five weekdays x 6 = 30 days on Ripped) I suppose the answer is going to be 'whatever you feel is right' but just checking how others are classing it as '30 days'!0

Hey clur85, I think you answered your own question by saying "whatever feels right" I did the first two weeks 5x/week, and then the last 2 "weeks" I did every other day over the course of about 3 weeks.
To everybody else: I would highly, highly recommend this workout video - I'm actually thinking of restarting it when my gym membership ends this weekend. I lost about 10 pounds in a month and felt fantastic. I think ths time around I'll again do it every other day and do my regular strength training and some sort of cardio on my off days, with 1 or maximum 2 days off a week.0
