We spent the weekend with our best friends and their 3 kids. My best friend ended up returning several presents before Christmas due to financial circumstances beyond her control. Her kids knew because they saw her unwrapping presents and she had to take them to the store with her. Christmas Eve the boys, who are 8 and 6, wrote notes to Santa. After the kids went to bed we read the notes to Santa and one of them just broke my heart it was so absolutely adorable. Her 8-year old wrote
"Dear Santa, Could we please have some money before we lose everything? Write what you think here. Love, L."
I wanted to cry when I read that note! Santa left a very good note back saying that his mom and dad work very hard and they will take care of everything and the family will be okay.
Her 6-year old asked for trains, cars, an ipod, and homework! I asked him the next morning why he asked for homework and his response was because he liked it. LOL!

Does anyone else have their kids write notes to Santa? Did they get what they asked for or did they ask for something that Santa would not think of bringing them?
