Exercise age 50+

I am soon to be 52. My exercise of choice is walking. Up untill this fall I walked an average of 5 miles every day, but now with New England winters settling in with shorter days and the bitter cold I am finding it more difficult. I do have a treadmill at home, but find using it rather boring. I do have a gym close by, but to be honest when it is bone chilling cold once I am home from work I really do not want to go out again. What other exercise could I do at home or what could make my time on the treadmill more enjoyable.

I have a glider, and I use it for an hour every day while I watch Dr. Oz on tv. That way I'm moving instead of munching. You can watch anything on tv while walking on the treadmill. If you like books, you can also read if you have a bookholder on your treadmill. Or pop in you favorite CD and dance around the house for exercise. So many options.....be creative! '
You can also join a fitness challenge on MFP. Each week the challenge will be different and give you something specific to work on. I like it because the exercises vary so I don't get bored. The motivation and competitiveness also keep me moving. Look on the Fitness and Challenges section to find the one(s) that you'd like to be part of.
Good luck!0
