Calorie Question...

So MFP tells me I should be getting 1340 calories per day. Today I burned 364 calories, and MFP upped my calorie intake for the day to include the calories I burned working out...so should I be eating to reach my original calorie goal (1340) or my calorie goal PLUS what I burned working out like MFP says?

    Its optional to use your "exercise calories". Try to stick it out with the origianl calorie goal.

    You would eat over your calorie goal after exercise. If your body needs an average of 1200cals(females) 1500cals(males) just to function and you work out 1500 cals in a day are you eating properly? ... The answer would be no.

    Edit: So if your 1340cals represents a calorie decrease and you burned 364 cals you would eat 1704 cals.
  • Calories, Calories.
    I've lost 145 pounds in the past 21 months, and not once have I worried about or counted calories. You can't overeat on good food. Find the right food, and don't worry about calories. I talk about it on my blog.
  • i might eat back some of my calorie burn but since most caloric burns are just estimates i leave a couple hundred calories left for margin of error

    My standard answer is "You have chosen MFP as your dieting choice, so follow the program and see what happens!"

    I lost 36 pounds logging my food and exercise, eating my exercise calories and making friends here that support me.

    When I questioned the process in the beginning, my thoughts were that if I went to Weight Watchers, I would not question the points method.

    My research showed a few things over the year I lost weight. One, other web sites included the exercise I promised, which did not always happen:blushing: So if I recieved 1550 calories a day, because I said I walked 2 miles each day, then didn't walk.........well you can see how that worked out.

    WIth MFP I used to say WILL WORK FOR FOOD!! It was a great psych out for me to get my booty moving!! (I remember once I wanted a roll with dinner. At 5 pm I realized I didn't have the 50 calories so I hit the Elliptical machine for 20 minutes:laugh: )

    Good luck! I hope I see you at the other end of 20 pounds I need to lose!!:drinker:

    I guess I just wonder why MFP then, as this is a calorie counting site?

    I personally try not to eat back my exercise calories...This site does work..

    After reading your profile, may I say that this JOURNEY IS 3 FOLD...PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL AND SPIRITUAL and it seems that the JOURNEY is just what you need to REINVENT yourself...

    Calories = Exercise = Water

    Good Luck:flowerforyou:
