    Really? I didn't know that. I was trying to do 200 crunches a day and burned out (and hurt my back) within a week. So, good to know.

    You're in a pretty good weight range now for your age and height. 80% of all FAT LOSS is diet. Continue to LOG your cals, watch your food intake avoiding the things that cause FAT to develop, and do WEIGHT TRAINING.

    Surely only if you are eating badly to start with? I have always eaten healthily, but did no exercise before. I would say 80% if not more of my weight loss has been exercise. My diet hasn't changed radically.

    Science says that exercise doesn't help you "lose" weight, but helps you maintain it, build muscle, etc. You probably lost weight during exercise because you built more muscle and burned alot more fat that way. No doubt exercise is GREAT for health and everyone should be doing it 3-4 times a week. However, there is no PROVEN FACT that says "exercise makes you lose weight". There are many CORRELATIONS but no fact.
  • sounds like you have parents who care and are worried about you and need to be more informed...take them with you to a physical and talk it over with your doctor...All parties will have a better understanding and you will have support of your family behind you.

    My ex-BF was 6'5" & 140lbs. He looked like death walking. It wasn't healthy... you could see ALL of his bones.

    The weight you are now... that's LOW on BMI range. Why would you want to keep going? It sounds unhealthy to continue to fixate on the scale. Are you weight training? Adding lean muscle will increase the numbers on the scale & increase your metabolism. This will make you HUNGRY, & you'll eat more, but that's cool... let your family see it, & stick to healthy food choices.

    See a doctor. If you want to lose MORE weight at your height? That's a problem. You have an abnormal body image. Toss your scale & start working out. The little pouches of "fat" that you see in the mirror becoming toned & sculped muscle will stop the eating disorder thoughts & rumours in your family.

    For a senior in HS 150lb seems realistic, but you're not a teen-ager any longer...

    I hope you shoot for health...that means you need to watch what you eat, as well as how much....

    see your doctor and take it to heart.

    Are you getting all of the nutrients that you need?

    Where do you fall on the BMI scale?

    Are you losing at a slow and steady pace?

    Does your family tell you that the weight loss is negatively affecting you in any other way (keeping you from enjoying life, etc.)?/ Are there any other concerns that your family has about you?

    As long as you know you're not starving yourself and you're losing weight or toning up the right way, don't worry about what other people say. Enjoy your body and congratulations on your weight loss!

    That's just not true. Weight loss occurs when the amount you eat doesn't cover the amount you move. That is all there is to that equation. Of course burning more i.e. exercise, causes weight loss.
