Insanity vs Turbo Fire

I did 14 weeks Turbo Fire, then the ChaLEAN Extreme/Turbo Fire hybrid for 12 weeks and now I'm STRUGGLING on Week 3 of Insanity. I thought I was ready to take it to the next level but Insanity is a bit... uh... insane. And I'm not getting a better burn from it either. So I'm frustrated and thinking Insanity isn't the program for me. But maybe 3 weeks isn't enough time to really judge.

Here are my thoughts so far:
TURBO FIRE: I enjoy it, it's fun and I can keep up with and even push past what the cast is doing. I get mega burns and nothing is so difficult that I simply can't do it.

INSANITY: It's really repetitive which is starting to bore me. I dread it because it's so HARD. There are some moves that I just cannot do and keep form. And they are so hard, they wipe me out completely and I get that puke-y feeling - not fun. Plus, it's taking a toll on my back, knees and wrists. And for all that I'm getting okay to average burns. What's the point of all that suffering if I'm not even getting a kick-*kitten* burn??? I will say that it is really improving my endurance.

Kinda wanna go back to Turbo Fire but add in some Insanity each week. But feel really bad about not finishing the 63 days of Insanity.

Has anyone else done both programs? What are your thoughts?

If you don't like Insanity and it hurts, stop doing it! I wouldn't feel bad. I really liked Turbo Fire so I completely understand. Its great to be able to really like your workout.

I would say try and stick out the Insanity. I have both Turbo Fire and Insanity. You have been doing Turbo Fire for 26 weeks...that is half a year. Change it up. I am sure your body is so used to the movements and routines, it doesn't challenge you any more. That is why Insanity is so hard. I went from Insanity to Turbo and thought that Turbo Fire was harder than Insanity. There are no stops or breaks in it, you just go.

If some of the movements are uncomfortable, try and modify to make them better. Insanity does push you to the brink and force you to "dig deep", but I think that is part of the program. I remember just getting through the warm up was goal #1.

This is the quote that concerns me "Plus, it's taking a toll on my back, knees and wrists."

It is a very high impact workout, which can mean high stress and strain on certain joints.

If you feel it is truly causing pain/issues with your joints. I would definitely stop doing that routine so often.

It is not well suited for everyone, and it is not worth "tearing up" your body joints. Especially when there are many other programs, that can give you very good fitness improvements, with less wear and tear on joints.

If you do like the program, and enjoy it, and the challange , then you can certainly try to continue with modifications.

If you feel that it really is not a joint issue, but you are just looking for excuses - then you really need to make the call on that. :)

But if you really are not enjoying it, AND having issues, I would not continue it. At least not as often. Instead maybe mix it up with something else, depending on your health concerns.

I personally find, If I do not like a particular workout, or trainer - it makes it that much harder to "Give my all", so my results are less dramatic, and I also find it so much easier to "skip the workout". I start to dread each workout - not a good thing.

You have nothing to prove to anyone, but you. You have individual goals to meet, and you can still meet them in any number of ways. Who cares if you did not complete a specific program? We don't get gold stars for completing everything.

If this program is not able to challenge you in a "good way, and an " I want to come back and do it more" then I think its time to move on to something else. Find another "new" program to challenge you in a new fresh way. Or increase the intensity or programs you have and love. (adding in wrist and ankle weights on cardio, for example, or heavier weights on strength days)

I personally get bored easily, and also do not enjoy Shawn Ts teaching style. I also have old injuries, that would be aggravated by Insanity - so for me its not a great fit. For that reason, I don't do it. :) Others do it and love it - yay for them! I think its great they have a program they enjoy doing, and get results from.

I have other great programs I enjoy more, that suit my style, and my body issues better. Those are ones I do. And it prevents me from totally "hating" workout time. I don't "love" to work out, but I certainly mind it much less, and enjoy the challange, and the results.

Lifes to short, to force yourself to do something you really cannot enjoy. :)

We are all going to the same general goals- but there are many roads to get there.

Insanity is not for everyone, if it's hurting you then you should stop. Also week 6 is harder and more challenging then anything in the last 4 weeks I insanity. So it might be harder in your body then it already is now. I would say to stick to turbo fire and do something else with it
