Nike+ Running Band

My sister got me one of those Nike+ bands for Christmas....It has a thing that you wear around your wrist that supposedly measures your heartrate and also functions as a watch, and then a little button that you put in your shoe that measures how long you run for. Then you upload it to your computer and it tells you your calories and heart rate, etc...
In theory it would be great, but it's WRONG. Today I ran (confirmed by google maps and mapquest) 3.6 miles, and it told me that I walked 1.2 miles...in 36 minutes. SO I'm wondering if anyone else has these and has a similar problem, if so, how did you fix it? Any help is much appreciated.
When I try to "calibrate it" it tells me that the distance I'm entering is basically impossible--its not within the things error range.
