According to my HRM... I have no HR... :-(

I've searched through the forums to see if anyone had the same problem, and I didn't find anything, so here goes..

My mother-in-law got me a Timex Zone Trainer HRM for Christmas. I read through the manual; set up my weight, ideal HR zone for working out, and chose my settings. I read through how to use the Chrono mode (even watched a video on how to use it).

So I go to do my Zumba with the Wii and use the HRM. It starts the timer (the heart is flashing and filled in showing that it's receiving data from the chest strap), and I do my workout. When I finish, I stop the chrono mode, and then go to check out Review mode.

There's nothing there. It lists my total time (22 minutes), but doesn't show any HR data...... When I am looking at the watch in time mode and hit the HR button this is what it shows me " -- " I have no HR! Yet the the watch says it's receiving data.

I know Timex isn't the best; but it was a gift, and it's what I have. Any help in figuring out what is wrong would be appreciated. And yes, I wet the chest strap and my chest, and the thing was tight.

I just got my second Timex HRM. Are you wetting the chest strap sensors before putting it on? Also, make sure the strap is tight enough around your chest so it stays in contact. I found I have to play with wear the strap sets on my chest as well. Make sure it is going in the right direction (up or down) and I try and get mine to stay right about the bottom of the sternum. Sometimes it is under my sports bra line, sometimes lower, like an inch below. Find what works. Some people's skin doesn't transmit the heart's frequency well. I have heard of some getting the ultrasound gel and using that as a conductive lube under the strap.

    Hope something like that helps!

Apparently I can't read... oops... it may just be a defective one. I have a cheapo Timex HRM, like $35, and it works perfectly fine.
