more often than seems reasonable, members under 18 years old, will post questions and openly admit they are 16..15...etc.

I see old time members advising these "kids" to up their protein..to lift heavy...QUIT IT!

WE HAVE NO BUSINESS ADVISING the children who venture onto this site. It is irresponsible.

Wow...I didn't know that.........I never even look at ages of people who ask for advice unless they state it in their post......these kids shouldn't be here..... :(

Just for the record, this is in response to a reply I recently wrote. Outside of the fact that the age limit is 18 and up on this site, I can see that you would label my reply as irresponsible.

That being said, I provided good advice, and 16 years old is perfectly reasonable to eat and train like a bodybuilder. Teen bodybuilding is a legitimate sport.

I agree...but the kid's parents or guardians should be involved in that discussion.

Instead of policing our responses why not police the children? Report them if it's bothering you so much. 18+ for members, no?
  • The problem is more for under 16s. 16 and over is a normal age to be dieting, etc.

That's actually unfortunate that it is "normal" to be dieting at that age. :/

I think that it is good that young people are looking into becoming healthier. All i would say is that you should provide healthy information to 16 year olds and adults alike. It isn't good for ANYONE to be skipping meals, taking steroids, or doing anything dangerous. As long as people are getting the proper nutrition and maintaining a healthy balance between eating and exercise I dont see anything wrong with providing them with tips and tricks to help lose some extra pounds (as long as those pounds need to be lost) or gaining some extra muscle. :)

that might be true but as you have seen or will see, this group of folks, me included, cannot always agree on what is healthy or not....diet soda...mcdonalds...etc. We need to be careful not to infringe on parents opinions. As a practical matter, this site requires that members be at least 18

If a member openly says they are under 18, I'm sorry, I will report them--they are not supposed to be using this site and that is clearly stated in the info when you sign up. It sounds mean but I don't want the site to be shut down because of mis-use. Isn't there an alternative site for teens out there? (maybe one that would require parental participation so that kids are monitored and it doesn't become a pro-ana thing?)

Get in the thread asking if it's bad to lose weight just because the number. Says she's 16?

The trouble with the teenagers that are looking for help either don't get it or want it from their parents. Sometimes the parents are the cause of their problem. I got in trouble for trying to help a 21 year old girl on one of these forums. They monitor these forums and told me that they didn't want me to make public pleas for help. They told me to contact the Administration directly if someone needed help.
