Calorie intake if pregnant?

I found out that I'm pregnant (yay!!) and was wondering what my calorie intake should be? My doctor said gaining 11 kilos during pregnancy is healthy and obviously the baby comes first instead of weightloss, I just want to make sure I dont over do it and make it harder for myself when I have the baby, any tips would be great

Hey. This site has a good calculator
http://www.freedieting.com/tools/pregnancy_calorie_calculator.htm
My understanding (from back when I did my obstetrics terms 2-3 years ago, so forgive me if I'm rusty!), you don't need to increase your calories from baseline in first trimester (ie. maintainence calories) and then add ~200cal in 2nd and another 200cal in 3rd.
You should make sure you get plenty of protein, iron, calcium (all necessary for growing healthy babies!) and take a folate supplement.0 -
Thanks, that helped heaps and your advice was exactly the information I needed, thankyou very much:happy:0
