Do you feel guilty?

OK, hands up if you are having the guilt trip about gaining over the holiday?

Out of the last 5 days calorie counting, 3 have been over my daily allowance, 2 of those by around 1000 calories each day. The only exercise I did was a 1½ mile stagger home on Christmas night. A sneaky peek at the scales showed a rather large gain, but I'll wait until my usual weighing day (Friday) for the official result.

This time in previous years, I would have felt really guilty, felt that I'd let myself down, that I was useless and I may as well give up. This year, I'm accepting it as a seasonal hiccup - today, "I've picked myself up, brushed myself off and started all over again", as the song goes!

We're all entitled to a holiday - this was mine, now I'm back to the grindstone.

Good luck everyone!

Look how far you've come already! You should be proud. The good thing is that today is a new day and you can start new. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen off and gotten back on.

I do know all to well about feeling guilty. I've come to realize that very few indulgences are worth the guilt. So, what I do is indulge in what I really want in moderation and as a reward and move on. I don't do it often but when I do I savor it, enjoy it, and simply move on.

At work every Friday we have a potluck..I look at the food on the table and say to myself...what am I WILLING to spend calories on.. I pick it out and eat small portions.

    Hope this helps.

I would just move forward on a positive note and if it's this holiday season where you splurge just think of it this way - you won't have to deal with it for another year :)
