Beachbody Les Mills Pump workout

I just got an email today about Beachbody's new workout program - Les Mills Pump. I had no clue this was in the works! I was never able to take a Body Pump class at my gym; because of the huge interest they took reservations way in advance.

I was just wondering if anyone has heard anything about this dvd program, or has taken classes and enjoyed them.

This package is quite pricey - especially if you already have bars & weights at home. But, maybe a belated Christmas gift to myself?

Let me know what you think! Thanks!

I love body pump at the gym. It would be great to have DVDs to do it at home when I can't make it to the gym, but unfortunately they are a USA only product...

I've been going to pump quite religiously for the past five months, and if I were in the USA I would definitely get the home pump package, mainly for those days when I couldn't get to class. I don't think it is exactly the same as the studio class, but I've read the contents of the kit and you do get some nice extra DVDs based on their other classes (Flow/Core etc.)

It is expensive, but if you can't get to a regular class and think you have the motivation to do it at home regularly (I don't :)) then go for it. Body Pump is one of the best things I've ever done and I'm sure that the DVD will be the next best thing!

It just came out around Christmas so I don't think anyone has tried it yet. It is a bit expensive but in the long run you save money as if you can't go to te gym or can't afford it anymore ten you always have something at home waiting for you. If I were you I would get it die to the fact that you sound interested in it. And as you said classes are always filled at your gym. I know that you have to have a coach in order to order it right now which then it comes with a couple extra things in it. Talk to ur bb coach for one.

Thanks for your replies! A friend of mine ordered it yesterday and I am debating waiting to see how she likes it, or just clicking 'order' today!!! What is it about a new program that gets ya all excited again?!
  • I haven't heard anything about the home DVDs, but I'll just say this -- BodyPump gets me out of bed at 4:15am and I take Ambien to sleep. It is AWESOME. I attend it at a 24 Hour and I honestly can't speak highly enough of it. If you've never tried it at all, see if one of your friends can take you to a release. BP80 will be released on January 14th at my gym, and it's a day where we can bring guests for free. (You might be able to research the release in your area and then do one of those "free 3 day visit" passes or something too.)

I've always had a lot of lower body strength but this is the first time in my life that I have upper body strength... and I can see the muscle definition in my arms on a regular, non-flexing basis.

If you do try it my only advice is to go light your first time so you can see what it's all about, because it is completely different from weight lifting on the floor. (Most instructors I've had recommend between 5-7.5 pound plates on each side to begin with.)

    HAVE FUN!

Wow! That's a huge testimonial! Thanks for posting! I would love to try out a class; everything is more fun in a class setting than doing it at home.

Can I ask you - is it hard on the knees? I know its high repetitions...squats I'm ok with but too many lunges can really take a toll on me.

And definitely light on the weights lol! The package comes with a bar and 2-5s and 2-10s so I figured it wasn't all about going heavy for sure!

    Thanks for your advice!
  • I don't have any knee pain from the class at all. Lunges is probably the #1 track that people modify on (sometimes I don't even use weights), and some of the lunges tracks include squats, so that always helps. The lunges are hard for me because I'm suffering from shin splints, but I'm pretty sure that's due to my running.

Thanks for replying! I figured if I had to modify on the lunges I would just deal with it. Figured what the heck and ordered it lol!
I am so excited to try this!!

I'm a beachbody coach and have had crazy amounts of success with turbo fire, and have attempted p90x, but it just wasn't for me, so it did nothing but sit around and collect dust, but there's something about the body pump workout that intrigues me. I've never taken a class, I've just heard how good they were, so I bought it as a little Christmas present for myself and hopefully I'll have it in the mail on Wednesday..if so, I will be starting the night!!

To anyone interested, I just posted a topic about having a Les Mills pump challenge with 4 or 5 people, let me know if that's something you'd be interested in!!
