The Secret to My Success!

I was watching the TODAY show this morning. They did a segment from PEOPLE magazine about people who have lost at least half of their body weight.

I vividly remember picking up that particular issue of PEOPLE magazine 5 years ago when I was 205 pounds and completely miserable! I read it as I was getting my haircut, quickly scanning the stories for what was the secret! SOMEBODY PLEASE TELL ME!!

It was so darn simple! Find a "diet" that you can live with forever, start an exercise program as simple as walking, be faithful to your plan and DO NOT GIVE UP!

That magazine issue changed my life! I am so grateful to anyone who has done the work and lost the weight, because you, my friends are my inspiration! I leaned on you and relied on you when I thought I couldn't help myself. You know how it is done.

If I can help just ONE person from my example of "taking the long way" then I'll be happy! Losing weight is possible at any age, in any physical condition, you just have to seek the information, follow it, pick yourself back up when you fall, and keep that goal in mind!

I am less than 4 pounds away from my goal weight of 135. I have not been 135 pounds since either 8th grade or 9th grade and I am 54 years old! Happy New Year to you all and this year it will be a HAPPY NEW ME! Thank you all!! = D

well done... I found this theory quite by accident as I'm limited to what I can do exercise-wise and found going wheat-free worked for me. I'm low carb most of time but allow a few treat meals and a couple of brandies a week... it keeps it sustainable for me.

I've lost 30lbs since June.. just about 14lbs to go get to my goal weight now!

    Way to go--you look amazing!

Who would have thought such a crazy concept would work. LOL I also found that I did better setting smaller goals for myself than one big goal. I changed my ticker on MFP every 20 pounds. It was easier to stay on track and stay motivated knowing I only had 20 pounds to reach my goal rather than 60.

I still have 7 pounds until I reach my goal weight. But my resolution for 2012 is to lose those last few pounds and maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.

    Happy New You/Year Everyone!

Congratulations everyone! You will get there! It is important to know that you are not "really" doing this to: get into the bikini, lose weight before the wedding, do it before New Year's, In time for vacation, before the class reunion, or whatever. You are doing this for the most important reason of all: YOU! YOU simply deserve the best! You deserve to look and feel your best and be the healthiest you can be!

You didn't get fat because you were stupid. It isn't about being smart. It is a highly emotional issue for the majority of us. It was for me. I was TERRIFIED of being hungry! Many of us have started and given up so many times. It is the first few weeks of any "diet plan" that has always done me in because I was hungry.

I decided this time I would do something entirely different and NOT GIVE UP! So it has taken me 5 years to get the bugs out of my system and settle down about food. So what? In the end, 5 years has passed whether I have lost the weight or not. I also managed to lose 66.6 pounds! I am thankful that I can look back at my old pictures and KNOW that I have done the work. I followed the Dr. Oz plan in the beginning, I did simple exercises like walking and working out with light dumbbells, and I have worked out the trial and errors for myself and know what I, Susan must do in order to maintain my weight loss and achieve good health.

My particular plan may not work for you, but it doesn't have to. I believe that if we each take a moment and think about ourselves seriously we can all come up with a plan that will suit our individual needs. Emphasis on INDIVIDUAL here. Only YOU know what YOU will or will not do. I refuse to run and I refuse to join any kind of gym. But I decided I would eat healthier, eliminate junk foods, and walk. Figure out what YOUR most healthy options are and do them. It doesn't matter if you lose weight at a snails pace as I did. The important thing to know is this is for life. This is not only about how you look today, but your health in the future. You follow YOUR PLAN and YOU will get the results just as I have.

The real big surprise for me is I am so relaxed about it now. I am about as relaxed now as I was anxious in the beginning! So I gained 4 pounds over the Christmas 3 weekend party period. So what? In the last 3 days I also managed to work off 3.2 pounds! Mostly water retention from all of the sugar, fat, and salt that I am not used to eating. The important thing to know is this did not derail me. I knew going in to the holiday eating period that I would need to get back on the plan quickly and follow it. And I did. I was really hoping to meet my 135 pound goal by New Year's Day, but..... It doesn't matter if I meet it Feb. 1 or even later in the year, because I know I am on the right track and I will succeed.

Congratulations everyone! It is YOU and your successes and your not giving up that have helped me to succeed, too! Wishing everyone a happy and healthy New Year!
