I'm wondering if anyone else has this issue. I eat a lot of fruit and greek yogurt. This makes me go over on my sugar often. I stay away from candy, I promise! Is the sugar in the yogurt and fruit "bad" for me? I'm guessing the fruit isn't bad, what about the sugar in the greek yogurt, which is really high? but also high in protein. I feel like I just can't win there haha

I'm curious, too. Having the same problem but I'm not overly concerned as long as I'm meeting my calories and exercise
  • I just talked to my doctor this morning about this very topic! He said, "#1, be more worried about the calories. #2 If it's fruit don't get as worried as if it's chocolate or soda. #3. Check out low glycemic index foods - which means they burn faster and don't stay in your system as long. So my goal is to check out the #3 and see what I find.
  • http://www.lowglycemicdiet.com/ is the website I looked at. Admittedly a little of it (5%) is advertisement for a product, but the rest iof the information (95%) is really good!

  • An easy way to lower your sugar intake is by replacing a serving or two of your fruit intake with a serving or two of vegetables - ones like leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I don't really eat fruit at all anymore, just vegetables, and I never worry about my sugar intake.

If you have a Kroger nearby, they have a "Carb Master" yogurt that is 4 total carbs or so per 6oz cup. I think about the same number of calories (80) as many lite yogurts.

  • too much sugar can be bad even from things like yogurt. Some yogurt does have alot of sugar, the greek ones are extra tart so they try and make them taste better by adding like 20g of sugar! See if you can get no sugar added or plain and then maybe add the fruit yourself. eating according to the low glycemic index is a good way to go about it, but there is def a such a thing as too much fruit :(.
