Running from Bears and Crazy Guys with Machine Guns

I told my husband the only way I run is if I'm being chased by bears or crazy guys with machine guns. I've been overweight my whole life and have now agreed to run a 5K with obstacles with my boot camp team mates. I have until August to get there. I am still overweight but cardiovascularly fit. So having said that, does anyone have any advice or suggestions for a wannabe runner. I do boot camp 3-4 times a week for approximately 1 hr. I have Nike Vomero running shoes which I do boot camp in. I find that my heels often hurt after. I also have no idea how to dress to run. I am thinking of starting the couch to 5K.
