Caloric question....

Before I started watching my calories & trying to get fit... I was consuming approximately 5000+ calories per day. My trainer has me at 1400 calories. I find this hard to stay at. Am I still going to loose weight at 2000 cal??? I mean.... I was eating over 5000, so I am consuming less than half of what I was, but I REALLY want to drop this weight & get stronger & more fit. I do have 146 lbs. to loose & I know that I am not supposed to loose too quickly, but I am anxious to get some of this weight off so that my ankles, knees, hips, back & arms won't have to carry around so much. Plus, if I loose quickly, won't it help me be able to exercise better. I guess all of this is really about my question of calories? Am I still going to loose???????

When you were eating 5000 per day, you were slowing gaining weight (I assume).

Play with your MFP diet/fitenss profile setting to discover how many calories you can eat to maintain your current weight.

3500 calories = 1 lbs, so if you want to lose 1 lbs per week, then reduce your daily calories by 500 from your maintenance number.

If you want to lose 2 lbs per week, then reduce by 1000 calories daily.

It is up to you how fast you want to lose and what you can take on. Most of us just follow what MFP recommends. And if we want to eat more, we exercise more.

Certainly you need to find something that works for you. Also eating smaller meals without the day and focusing on fruits, veggies, protein and calcium will help a great deal to feel full (and drinking water). In time your stomach will shrink so then it won't be as hard.

Be easy on yourself. It is hard to make too many changes at once.

1400 sounds low...did you plug your info into MFP? My maintenance calories are 1800 at 170 lbs, I shoot for about 3500-5000 calorie deficit per week. Hope that helps...
