I plan on drinking this New Years Eve, since I was unable to really last year since we had very religious friends over.

This year I plan on having a cheat day and I realize I will gain, but I worked hard and didn't drink on Christmas, so I am going to have my one fun day this year!

So do any of you know of any healthy or not so healthy drinks I should try while I have the chance? (Since it will be the last time I'm drinking until vacation) I've never been a heavy drinker and most the drinks I have liked are punches, daiquiri's, fruity like drinks, so trying to find new suggestions to try. And any nice snacks that go along with the drinks?

We are going to the store for the last time tomorrow (still trying to find strawberries :/) so trying to see what I should pick up! :)

First of all WOW that you have lost over 100lbs! WTG!!

I love drinking caesars or bloody mary's - 1oz. vodka, lime juice, tabasco, worcestershire sauce topped up with tomato or clamato juice. And a celery stick garnish - now that's healthy! Othewise I will have dark rum and coke zero or brandy and coke zero with lime! :) You could try a mojito with sprite zero, that would probably be yummy if you want something sweeter - white bacardi, sprite zero, lime juice and mint leaves. All of these would be around 100 calories apiece. Also palomas are really good - they are tequila and diet grapefruit pop and delicious (and easy to drink so be careful!)

Food maybe bring a platter of veggies and low-fat tzatziki or hummus so you can snack on something healthy?

I'm totally having the same thoughts about my New Years, want to enjoy myself but it's hard to find a balance.

Drinks wise, I would avoid beers and sweetened alcoholic drinks. All other spirits roughly have the same calories 7cal/g of ethanol. So the stronger it is, the more alcohol it has and more calories it would have.
e.g. 30ml of whisky or vodka or something like that would have 70 cal.(it has 40% alcohol)
wine on the other hand has about 12-14% alcohol and the bottle would be approx 550-600 calories, give and take.

Snacks wise, I have recently actually changed my habbit completely. The so called party snacks (crisps and nimbles etc) have so many calories that you might end up having more of snacks calories than alcohol.
So, I have started doing fresh vegetables/salads like carrot batons, raw broccoli, peppers and all sort of fresh veggies along with hummus. It might sound unpalatable but trust me, I was in a similar situation when I visited a friends place and am now literally hooked to these sort of snacks with drinks. All these veggies have roughly 30 cal/100 grams + hummus might have slightly higher calories one.

    Enjoy your party anyways!
