Running and Calories burned

I run almost every day during my lunch break.
Before I leave my office, I check my HRM for my HR. When I return from my run I note the time but I keep my HRM going until I get back down to my resting HR. I figure any calories I burn during that period where my HR is elevated from the cardio I just did should be accounted for.
Does anyone else do this or if you never thought of it, would you do it?

It is true that you continue to burn calories after a run when you stop and your metabolism is elevated. But, I see those calories as a bonus, I don't count them. I only count during my run and during my warm-up and cool down. Also, it is not clear exactly how many calories you burn then because you aren't moving at a run but moving less at a walk.
