Christmas/New Year issues resolved??

I still haven't dared to weigh myself after the gluttony of Christmas (and the alcoholic consumption to come in two days time!) BUT I have now realised what my issues are with food - if it's in the house, I'll eat it till I'm fit to burst!
Every year (since 2001) my husband and I have bought less and less, in terms of food and alcohol, over the festive period and this year was no exception. However, this was the first year of using MFP and it has been a real shock for me to truly understand my relationship with food.
I have maintained a steady calorie intake of 2000 a day (and not all of it 'good, healthy' choices), but my allowance is only 1200 to enable me to lose weight, so I know I've added. But I now know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I'll gorge on whatever is available!
The lesson here is: next year there will only be one box of mince pies, two small boxes of sweets and only one set of nuts. As for alcohol - the lowest calorie drink I've found is a G&T - so that is the way forward!
What have other people discovered about themselves/their relationship with food over the holidays?
Keep trying...Wendy
