Be Well cleanse in the new year...

After much back and forth, I just invested in Dr. Lipman's Be Well cleanse that I plan to start in January. It's a two week program and it appealed to me because you're still eating lunch and dinner, but incorporating 3 shakes a day as breakfast and snack replacements...not like the dreaded Master Cleanse, which I personally feel causes more harm than good. Also, you're provided supplements that you take at mealtimes and optional glutamine capsules to stave off sugar cravings if you feel them. I hope I didn't waste my money on this experiment, but I'm really excited to see how it goes.
Anyone ever used Dr. Lipman's products or guidelines? Anyone else doing cleanses of any kind in the near future?

Your article is specifically about the Master Cleanse and cleanses in general that don't allow solid foods. Starvation diets. Unlike the one I purchased. You're totally entitled to make me feel silly, that's what message boards are for, but at least read the post first.

I'm sorry, I mistook Dr. Lipman's Be Well cleanse for a cleanse. Also, I thought you wanted opinions on "...any type of cleanse."

Since you corrected me, I change my statement to "You are doing the right thing! Don't listen to people who disagree with you."

Well, here's some info about cleanses in general. :flowerforyou:

The body does an excellent job of "cleansing" itself. Just treat it right and it will treat you right. There is no "cleanse" as effective as simply eating well.

"The best way to 'detox' the body is simply to let your body do its job. Unless you have a medical problem, your body takes care of itself quite nicely, experts say.

"The liver and kidneys are nature's best-kept secret, because they are the weapons to eliminate toxins from your body," says Gerbstadt. "If you are concerned about certain substances in your diet, it is easier and safer to simply eliminate [those substances] rather than engage in unhealthy detox plans."

According to Chau Che MD, with New York University:

"Despite evidence to the contrary, the idea that colon cleansing is therapeutic by removing impurities, lives on. However, these claims largely fail to consider normal physiology. The digestive tract has inherent properties that work to clean our colon. After food ingestion, the small intestine absorbs nutrients and contracts to move indigestible residue into the colon. The colon continues the digestive process by absorbing and secreting electrolytes and fluids while its resident bacteria ferments the undigested food products. These are just some of the many mechanisms in which the digestive tract works in order to ensure that the colon does not become encrusted with fecal matter as some products claim. The black, rubbery material passed on a colon cleanse is actually a byproduct from the supplements and fiber in the colon cleansing product as opposed to old fecal material, in which consumers are led to believe."

Just what do you think you are 'cleansing'? The above information is the truth....your body can cleanse itself just fine, assuming you have no particular health issues in that regard.

Doc points to a lot of research (http://www.bewellbydrfranklipman.com/resources/cleanse-related-research-powder), but does not make a case that it has anything to do with cleansing. Just a whole lot of info about the benefits of fiber.

Seriously, just drink a lot of water and maybe supplement your diet with 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice a day and you will be plenty cleansed.

One protocol I've seen recommended is Budweiser and eggs.

Cleanse.....you mean like pooping and peeing excessively so as to empty your body out temporarily?

    Best before road trips!
