Just a little wrong.

I just read something that kind of bugged me. It was someone putting people down for being on MFP if they have just a little extra weight or baby weight to lose. Saying that MFP is only for the people who need a life change, or are in need of saving themselves... I agree MFP is a great tool for that category, I woke up one moring and said to myself holy cow I have gained 18-20lbs and I am going to do something about it. I am going to eat healthier and I am going to start exersizing before this gets too out of control. Now the only difference between you and I is I got the wake up call earlier. I got the wake up call before it would be a huge long journey to lose the weight. But still everyone has a right to be able to track their food and exersize to help them lose weight, regardless if it is 18 lbs. like me or 200 lbs. for another person. This is what keeps me accountable for what I put in my body and keeps me accountable for the exersize I do... What do ya'll think?

I think there are a lot of people here who all have their own reasons for joining. The reason we have groups is so that like-minded people can get together for support or to set goals. But any time you have a large group of diverse people in a public forum there are going to be tons of differing opinions. Try not to let it get to you. You're here for you, and you've got every right to be here, and that's all that counts right?0

If that was the case when I meet my goal I have to stay off the site. Come on - this is a lifestyle change. I learn something everyday on this site. Some what to do, some what not to do. If a person feels that way then they can start their own group 100+, 200+ etc. Oh, those already exists though, silly me.
I don't know why they feel the need to post anything at all.0 -
You are making a lifestyle change by being here, it's called making the changes before it's too late! Congratulations for doing what I didn't do That said, the site is called myfitnesspal for a reason, it is for people who want to be healthy and fit, whether their goals are to lose 2 pounds to 200...gasp...there are even people here trying to GAIN weight! Don't sweat the comments of the people on the forums. You are doing a great thing for yourself by being here!0

It seems silly that other people think that they know how much weight is a lot to any one person. We all have different circumstances and backgrounds and I'm sure some people are here for fitness too rather than weigh-loss. The site's called My FITNESS Pal after all...
Frankly I can't believe these people feel that they're in a position to judge others on the site. It's great that so many others offer support though, since I reckon we could all do with a bit more of that at times0 -
I wish I had MFP when I only needed to lose 20 or 30 or 50 lbs... :grumble:
I plan to stay on here through the loss journey and absolutely for maintenance, which let's face it, is the hardest part of fitness for most of us!! I can lose it alll day long, but keeping it off???? Whole 'nother story. Cuz I stop being accountable.
Welcome to MFP and may you reach your goal and feel great, I am motivated by everyone on here who makes it work no matter how much they want to lose.0 -
If the people who are really obese, who say stupid things like only people with 100lb to lose should be "allowed" on here, had got it together to deal with their own problems when they were only a few pounds overweight, they'd have never got into that situation in the first place.
I'm guessing that realising that can make those people pretty mean spirited towards those with not much to lose.
There seems to be a mindset that anyone slim is "lucky" - whereas in fact it might be down to sheer hard work. And a LOT of people lose heaps of weight before even finding this site.
Personally, I think every member on here should be congratulated for caring about not only their weight but also their health and fitness. And yah boo sucks to the haters.0 -
I agree with you, this site is here to help anyone from a few pounds over to being extremely over! I have tried several diets through out my life and never had a whole lot of luck! I do best when I am held accountable for what I do! So I log and I have some really good friends who keep me on my guard! I have lost 103 pounds and want to lose about 10 more! So I should what stop? I say to those that feel this is only for somone who needs to be saved BITE ME! I encourage all my friends and family who feel they need to lose a few or a lot to join MFP! So keep logging and keep being accountable!0

EDITED TO ADD: There is a "report post" button at the bottom of every post, so if you find one with a personal attack like that, do all the other members on here a favour and report it. We don't want or need members like that.0 -

I agree with you! There are people on MFP for all kinds of reasons and each is a darn good reason. Personally I like the diversity and try to reflect that in the friendships I've made here just as I do in my real or non virtual life. This is a fitness site and for some that means gaining weight, others it means losing weight, others it's growing larger more muscular builds. I'm sure you get my point. But the bottom line or common denominator is still fitness and health. We all cherish it and desire it so maybe we are all more similar than we are different. At least that's how I see MFP.0 -

I agree, this site is for everyone to use. I'm on here to lose only a few kilograms and then mainly tone up. It's a great tool for watching what you're eating.0

This site is a great tool for anyone who wants to be conscious of their food intake and exercise. I joined to lose weight, then got pregnant, so I'm continuing to track to make sure I'm eating healthy. If you are getting anything out of the tracking or the community, you should be here. Doesn't matter if you want to lose 5, 50, or 500 lbs.... or 0lbs like me.
I have found that there are some really rude people on the forums on here. They talk a lot of trash.0 -
I joined when the wake up call came much much later. I was 130 pounds overweight! I think this site should be for everyone. People need to stop judging and being mean to each other. We are all human and need the same tools to get to our goal.0
