This morning i am up and off to my first Spinning class of the new start!

Should i eat breakfast before or after? I have an hour till I should be there?

I dont want to eat and feel sick, but also i dont want to go dizzy as i havent eaten.

Any advice appreciated!
Chrissie

since you have an hr eat something light. i never make it thru class if i dont eat but if I eat less than an hr i feel terrible and get heartburn. something light like apple with pb, oatmeal, protein shake, banana with pb, yogurt, etc. if i eat cereal not enough proteing to power thru a 2 hr workout but a container of yogurt does for me somehow. but i can be fine when i am on my own on the treadmill or elliptical or rowing machine but i usually have to slow it down in the middle of my step class if i dont eat enough then after about five min i am fine and can finish no problem

I always eat something before I workout. Usually something with carbs and protein. Greek Yogurt or almonds are always my go to in a time crunch. Since you are talking breakfast....eggs or oatmeal or both would be my choice. I don't like to exercise (especially something that strenuous and intense) on an empty stomach. My protein shakes come in handy for breakfast too. A great start since it's got water in it too...gives a hydration boost before the workout as well.

Firm believer in protein shake first thing most mornings. Quick, ez and delicious. Then I work out and eat something afterwards.

I can tell you from experience that a giant plate of nachos 2 hours before a nearly 4 mile run isn't the best idea.

I have read that a banana is a great pre-workout food. The amount of sugars in it fuels the body for a good workout and the potassium helps out as well. That, and coconut water because of the eloctrolytes it has.
I've tried both and like both-I don't alwasy like to eat nachos before a beating.

I wouldn't normally eat within an hour of exercise, but on the occassion where I have had nothing before I eat a banana, I find that will do me through an hour.

Yeah the guys at work still make fun of me for it. Everyday they tell me there are no nachos around for me to eat.

Thanks guys! I went with a slice of toast before and one after, think fruit or a banana is the way to go! Might have to look into shakes, could make them the night before then just open fridge and drink?? does anyone do this?

I should prob get up earlier and have a proper meal like porridge or eggs as suggested but to be honest its hard enough pulling myself out of bed to exercise let alone allowing extra time to eat!!!

    Thank you all!

Honestly I don't even eat before the 6a.m. workouts we do-unless it's a day I can't sleep before so and eat nachos ;) At that time a day I'm too busy hating life to be thinking about food.

I work out at 5 in the morning....at home. I always eat a snack before bed. that gets me thru my workout. then my reward is my coffee with half and half. I eat breakfast on my way to work.........it works for me......find what works for you. if I eat before.....i feel sick
