Hi there,

I was over last night by about a 1000 calories, but I had fun and I don't regret it. I saw a great band(Chasin Mason-they are from Wisconsin) and even won a raffle!

I learned something from it and I got right back on track the next morning.

I actually miss the hungry feeling. Anyone else feel that way at times?

I know this will make my weight loss this week take one more day, but the knowledge I gained from it was worth it. I still ate healthy all day, but added extra calories at the concert with some snack food.

I figure that I still ate healthy all day and if I hadn't been watching what I was eating, that 1000 might have been 2000.

New day, right back on track. If only I had know this all my life. Hindsight is 20/20.

Stay warm. We are freezing in Chicagoland.

  • To be honest, I never miss the hungry feeling :->

But it's great to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed a wonderful (deserved!) Saturday night and didn't let it totaly de-rail your weight loss efforts.

Yes, it might take an extra day to get that one pound off. But life is TOO SHORT, so thanks for the perspective! I had started to beat myself up (gently) about last night's dessert with friends.

We're all in it for the long haul, and we all need a break once in awhile
  • good way to look at it....you only went over 1000 when you could have went over many many more...you shoud be proud of yourself.....and how often are you going to do that...my guess woudl be every once in a blue moon.....but the really good part is you had a great night and made some wonderful memories....thats what truely counts....

    :drinker: to memories

Hey, 1000 doesn't even equal a lb. In fact, you could eat 3500 extra calories on TOP of your maintenance calories, and you still wouldn't gain an entire lb of fat because some calories have to be used up to digest the food, and some of it would go toward muscle repair and growth.

So don't worry about those fun nights, and enjoy them thoroughly.

Connie lynn, what did you win in the raffle?

    Hey songbyrdsweet,

It was a bottle of 6 year old Canadian Club Whisky. I am not much of a whisky drinker, but it was fun to win. I am careful with alcohol because I have family members who are alcoholics. I enjoy it, but respect that it must be used in moderation.

Thank you for your notes fitzio, chrispchef and songbyrd...

    Everything in moderation,

I agree with your attitude. I went out with some friends who I hadn't seen in over a year last night. We drank some beers had some yam fries and had a good time.

But today I was right back to keeping within my calories. It is all about looking at this over the long haul. You will want to do things that will occasionaly put you over but you just make sure it's not an every day thing.

I even went to the gym yesterday morning and did an extra long workout because I knew I would need to counteract some of the calories I would be taking in that night.

    It's all about balance

these are really encouraging words. i worked extra hard all week, because my husband was making his version of scalloped potatoes and ham. it has alot of velveeta cheese. it is the best and i wanted to have some. however i over did it . it was so incredible. i felt grossly sick after. i ate too much. i knew my stomache was full but my mouth said "have another bite its so good". well i had another bite and another and then i felt like i could explode. so my lesson learned it was ok to have it but i need to listen to my stomache when im full i need to stop. my goal was to lose 20 by my birthday feb 3 i was down 16 only 4 to go and 2 weeks left. after yesterday it may be 6 to go. i will do it.
