It's so hard for me not to stop at fast food places on my lunch break at school. Could you give me some ideas of quick and easy meals for a chick on the go?

I'm in law school, and incredibly busy, too. I pack my lunch every day, and it's the kind of stuff you can keep in your tiny fridge next to your beer, I mean water. Hilshire Farms Deli Select turkey slices, Kraft 2% cheese slices, mustard, pickles, Sunbeam Light Wheat bread, fruit, light yogurt, tuna (doesn't have to be refrigerated!!), I do the Campbell's Soup at Hand ... but you MUST watch your sodium there ... 100 Calorie Packs help me out a lot ... even though I hate all the extra packaging.
There's tons that you can get at your local Wal Mart or grocery store and actually be able to afford that you can bring with you, doesn't have to be refrigerated/frozen between classes, and are healthy options. (Can you tell that I hate bringing salads for lunch?)
You'll be much better off bringing than buying ... unless you buy their salads & carry around your own light/fat free dressing. And lunch bags (Built NY is a great brand!) are super-cute now0 -
Thanks alot!! Packing my lunch will cut down on money and calories LOL0

I pack my lunch every single day. Here are some of the things I usually pack:
10 calorie jello
cheesestick
100 calorie pack of almonds
orange
apple
100 calorie chocolate drizzle rice cakes
celery peanut butter
raisins
Hope these help!0 -
I am not in school. I do pack my lunch it saves money, time and it is better for me.
Almonds raw
raisins
a bag of raw veggies
4 oz of chicken (cooked up on the weekend and frozen in 4oz baggies)
larabar
fruit
This allows me to have a mid norning snack an afternoon snack.0 -
Fruit is definately a life saver, because it is good for you and also satisfies your sweet tooth. I also recommend pretzels or carrot sticks if your in a hurry. Low cal pudding or yogurt cups are good too. I agree with the other posters about packing a sandwich, because that way you know exactly how many calories you are eating and won't be in for any surprises. Tuna works well, so does sliced deli meats like turkey or ham.0

I am also a unviersity student plus paramedic, so I try to pack a lunch as much as possible, because it is so tempting just to go to the fast food on campus or while on shift go through the drive thru with the ambulance.
I find LEFTOVERS are the key. I try to make a little bit extra the day/night before so I will have something good to eat.
I also bring dry cereal with me in a tupperware container, it's a good snack...like Special K or cheerios.
I also try to bring a lot of cut up veggies and fruit with me. As soon as I get home from the grocery store I cut as much up as a can and separate it in different tupperware containers, so they are easy to grab while on the go.
The 100 calorie snacks are good too!0 -
LOVE Special K!!!!!!!
Ya'll have been a great help!!0 -
I like the cutting the veggies up as soon as you get them idea and putting them in containers for a quick grab!! Good idea!!! These are all good suggestions! Thanks everyone!!! :glasses:0

I buy the sliced apples from trader joe's and put them in little sandwich baggies as well as make up little baggies of celery & carrots.
I find that if they are ready for me to grab I will take them with no problems!0 -
I'm a college student and what has SAVED me has been my slow cooker....
I just turn that sucker on and head to class, i have dinner when I get home and I usually eat leftovers for lunch the next day or spread it out over the week.
the main thing is planning...which is really hard to do when you're in school, but a little bit of planning for the week really helps in the long run!
good luck!:flowerforyou:0
