I use it as a food, which it is. Coconut oil has a unique lipid (fat) profile called lauric acid which is a medium chain fatty acid which gets metabolized differently from other fatty acids.....basically this fat is not stored in fat cells like other dietary fat when consumed but is diverted and metabolized throught the liver and processed much like a carbohydrate and used as immediate energy (atp) and also contain anti-microbial, anti-viral properties due to the latitute of this product. Consuming this will displace other less desirable oils in your diet like refined veg oils, which is much healthier. You want virgin coconut oil, not refined.0
