My wife recently went back to work so my jogging routine has been altered. We have twin 2 year old boys and I would like to be able to throw them in the stroller and jog with them. I usually jog for 25 minutes or so 3 days a week. I am kind of leery of purchasing a jogging stroller as they are quite expensive. We have a side by side stroller that seems pretty durable, put is not a three wheeler. Anyone jogged with a regular stroller before?

I haven't used a regular stroller for jogging, so I can't give input on that. What I can tell you is I am so happy I invested in a BOB duallie jogging stroller 3 years ago. My kids are close in age, so the double stroller was convenient. The BOB has a locking front wheel and the seats are rated for 50 lbs apiece. My 4 an d 5 year-olds are just now getting scrunched in it. It's light weight and folds up nicely and fits in the trunk of my car. It cost $525 but has been worth every penny. I've tried jogging with my regular single stroller, and it was okay. I prefer the maneuverability and shocks of the jogger so much that I use my BOB even if I'm only taking 1 kid out.

yeah, that's just way to much for me. I guess I'll give it a try with my regular one. I don't do any trail running, just streets, so maybe it won't be too bad.

I have jogged with a double regular stroller. I highly recommend that you get a jogging stroller. We got ours at costco and it was a very good price, It made a world of difference. The double stroller i had was soooo heavy, it made running really hard. I still use it when I go on long walks and my twins are 4 yrs now. Theyre just too big to run with now, lol. Nothing like going for a run and pushing 80+ lbs!

My 2 year olds are 32 and 35 lbs, so I will be pushing a bit of weight, but I figured that it would be a little extra workout. I think I am not going to have to run with them too often, so I'll just have to deal with it.

My twins are 6 and my double jogger was my BEST FRIEND until they learned to ride bikes! I took them everywhere in it. I actually bought our double jogger when my older kids were small after trying to jog with our other stroller. You would not believe the difference. Highly recommend the investment! It's def. a smoother ride for the kiddos, and I'd say with the brakes and harnesses it's got to be safer too (not based on research, just momma's intuition lol).

Good luck to you, and have fun with those twins. Aren't they so much fun?

Loads of fun. I am currently the stay at home dad due to this crappy economy. I'll keep an eye out. I didn't want to spend a ton, but maybe it is something I will use long term.
  • Double jogger is the way to go. Check craigslist! I'm going to have to sell my BOB soon and will probably cry. My 5 year old is only 35 lbs but she's getting pretty darn tall for it...need to get her to ride her bike more!

What is also great (sarcasm coming!) about running with kids is the constant "Why are you running slow? Can you run faster? Alex is touching me! Can you run fast to the park? Are we going to the park now? Why are you slowing down? Why don't you talk back to me when I ask you questions? Are we done?" I started giving them snacks and water and letting them listen to my ipod just to get them to stop talking!

when I used my regular stroller for jogging it kind of seemed like the wheels were going to fall off. It made me nervous and I had to stop. They are definitely not made to be going that fast (even at my super slow pace).

I have 3 year old twin girls and I used to jog with them in a regular tandem double stroller and a side by side jeep stroller and it was so difficult. Those strollers are definately not made to run with. I got a jogging stroller from a friend a few months ago and I wonder why I didn't get one sooner. They are sooooooooooo much easier to navigate and effortless to push. I would highly recommend you invest in one. We eventually got rid of the other two and only use the jogging stroller now.

I have a bike trailer that converts to a jogger and I love it. I have been using it for years and can't believe they sell for like $120. That money is well spent even if you only use it for jogging but we also love it for biking. You can even bike your kids out somewhere and then convert it to jog at a park or trail. I did completely remove the front wheel from the jogger though. You don't need it at all. The two large back wheels are great and make turning even easy with one hand. I have been using mine for more than eight years several times each week. Here is a link.

    Best of luck to you!

We bought a Baby Jogger Twinner about the time we found out my wife was having twins. I have no clue how we'd have gotten through that time without it. SO worth it. They're easy to find used, too.

I have to say, this is one of those investments that really earns its keep.
