Ever since I was little I have been overweight, I'm going to finally get off my butt and change something. I had surgery on both of my feet due to extremely flat feet when I was 11 so this should be interesting! Going to get some ankle supports tomorrow. =] I hope my mom will come along with me also.

you can do it! i go to gym 4-5 times a week and i have a cast on from knee down on one leg. you just use the machines that aren't weight-bearing like the bikes or the rowing machine or free weights while sitting down or any of the strength training machines- none of those should hurt your feet really...and if they do, then just don't use that one and move on to next one. you are young- you should be able to rock the gym- exercise will really help you in this journey.
