Oh... It's not what you're thinking. My weight is still stuck in that magic 145-150lbs I've been stuck in for the past YEAR... mostly due to self sabotage, & cheating when I see some success. Though, I *HAVE* dropped a clothing size. :flowerforyou:
No... My Christmas morning consisted of waking up with UNBELIEVEABLE abdominal pain. :explode: I mean... I was sweating, shaking, dizzy, nauseated... all those WONDERFUL symptoms that sound a whole lot like appendicitis (or so I learned that morning). :noway:
SO... the boyfriend takes me to Emerg. (1. In Canada, that's what we call the Emergency Room, and 2. Funny story: two guys with towels wrapped around their hands for cutting open the plastic on their kids' toys that morning with a kitchen knife that they then proceeded to stab themselves in the hand with... LOL: only in Canada  ).
I spent the ENTIRE Christmas morning in the ER in PAIN. Like... PAIN. Never exactly felt anything like that. They drew blood, tested eurine... they poked & prodded me (& you girls know EXACTLY what exam that was: Happy Christmas to ME ). Then told me I needed an Ultrasound or an MRI to figure this out, because it's clearly NOT my appendix.
Well. Thanks for that. But now? I have to have an Ultrasound tomorrow morning. And THEN make an appointment with my Family doctor to find out what's wrong.
Oh... & the pain pills they gave me? They're NARCOTICS. :grumble: I had to give ID to the pharmacist to get it (unusual in Canada), & when I took one, I was so dizzy & nauseated that I ended up in bed ALL DAY the only time I had a flare-up bad enough to take one.
AND to top it all off? I have a little red sticker on the side of my pill bottle that says "WARNING: DO NOT EXERCISE WHILE ON THIS MEDICATION AS THERE IS RISK OF EXTREME MUSCULAR INJURY". Ever seen that message on your pills?
FML. :explode:

I did the same thing (USA) in October 2010. ER IEmerg) sent me home, said it was just the flu. Three days later, I was taken back, by ambulance this time, with a burst appendix. They gave me a pain shot at the ER the first time, but did not send me home with any pain meds...just meds to stop vomiting and diarrhea. Pain got bad, so I begged Demerol from my housemate, who had some left over. That is probably why I allowed my appendix to burst before returning to the ER again. THAT bursting pain was a ripping-tearing-zipper type of pain.
I'm glad you are going in for Ultrasound. Did they do any tests for an ectopic pregnancy? That's a pregnancy where the fetus is lodged in your fallopian tube. Very painful, like you described, and requires surgery...
Make sure they look into Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Celiac disease, too.
I've not had a medication that had that type of warning sticker on it, but I've had narcotics before. Nasty things!
Good luck with the Ultrasound!0 -
Oh goodness! Sorry you are having such a miserable holiday season! Hope they get you all fixed up and figured out and back on your feet asap! :flowerforyou:0

My friend had similar symptoms and she ended up (after many, many tests/ER visits) to have a problem with her gall bladder.0

Ugh.... I hope it's not Gall Bladder.
:noway:
And I *do* hope it's not Ectopic Pregnancy. THAT one would be hard to explain to the Boyfriend's parents, who don't believe in sex before marriage...:blushing: I'd have to come up with a REALLY good story for that one. I know I'm on birth control, but the Pill doesn't always stop Ovulation. It has backups... like making the uteran wall very slippery so nothing sticks. Well... that doesn't stop Ectopic pregnancy.
UGH... drinking my water now.... 4 cups. THEN I get to sit in a cold room while I have to PEE like I've never had to pee before... & have someone push on my bladder with a cold piece of metal. YAY me! Happy Friggin New Year. :grumble:
But... the highlight for me... was when the doctor tapped my stomach & said "That's thin enough to Ultrasound, I think. Thin... but not too thin <tap, tap> Yep. That'll Ultrasound, I think."
That's something at least.0 -
most important thing is you get well asap..then when you feel up to it you can get back to your workouts but i would start off slow and work it back up to where you were before..hope you feel better soon!!:flowerforyou:0

I hope it turns out to be nothing major!!0

Sounds like my experience in gall bladder land. It was horrific pain, and I've had 2 children. They took it out a few months later, it wasn't very bad actually. If you take your pain pills, be sure to eat some crackers with them, they are rough on an empty tummy. Poor thing, hope you're feeling better!0

Really, if it is your gall bladder, they do laparascopic surgery...a couple of band aids and that's it! Amazing. Yes, and be sure to take your pain med and you're back up and around again in no time. It sure isn't the same operation they did back in the day when my mom had it done!
Here's to having a quick diagnosis, with a quick cure!
Oh, and the 'thin enough to ultrasound' is great! Congratulations! LOL Me, I've been told that I have an 'ample body habitus', but they 'should' be able to see what they need to see on xray...LOL
Hugs!0 -
It does sound a lot like my experience with gallbladder. You are more likely to have gallbladder problems after losing weight. I know it sounds bad, but is better than some of the other alternatives. Gallbladder surgery is no fun, but not terrible either. Either way, I hope they identify the problem quickly and can give you a solution.0

well i got nothing to day.. except maybe.... get well soon?0

Thanks guys! I had my UltraSound... & that was moderately unpleasant. There was some girl screaming in pain in the cubicle next to mine, that they were working on too. Poor thing. Glad I'm not in that bad of shape.
I don't have the results yet though. This is REALLY frustrating.
She was poking around my right side, down low between the groin & my hip & suddenly asked me... "do you have any area in particular that's causing you discomfort?" This after poking around there a while & snapping a few photos. I told her that's about the spot that's bothering me... by my right hip there, in the lower abdomen. She typed a bunch of stuff into her little computer. The only thing that she'd tell me was that they got some good, clear shots of my abdomen.... *yay*....
My doctor's on Holidays for the Christmas season. But... if the radiologist saw something really bad I'd get a call wouldn't I?0 -
Well! What happened?0
