Hi all, Greetings from The Cherry Capital of the world, Traverse City Michigan. I joined earlier this week by Dr.'s recommendations. I am 50 yrs old, married 30 yrs:heart: , with 2 grown boys and about 100 lbs over weight for 8 yrs. I am finding this exciting and eye opening. The day the Dr. told me about this I logged on and entered my food at the end of the day thinking I hadnt done TOO bad, only to find out that I was about 2000 cal too much,:noway: The more logging I do the more I learn. My most difficult area is going to be the exercise. I have only managed to get on my incumbant bike once so far. My story as short as I can: I have fought being over weight most of my life (30-40 lbs) lost my mom to cancer on Christmas 2002 , my husband had 3 heart attacks in 3 days in 2004 (he is still with me THANK GOD:heart: ) I lost a 33 yr old co-worker this week:cry: , and my Dr. said I am on the verge of becoming diabetic.:grumble: This is my incentive to finally get going. I am looking forward to getting support and exchanging ideas and stories with some you. This "blogging" is totally new to me, never done it before. Looking forward to hearing from some of you.

  • Well, you've come to the right place. Although, I;m not from the north-I'm from San Diego, you'll get lots of support here!

It's very eye opening when you begin to log your food and count your calories. Most people don't realize how much they snack and how many calories it adds.

Don't push too hard with the exercise because you will get too tired, too fast, and then won't want to do it anymore. It takes longevity to do this right.

    Stay warm and healthy!

Welcome - from the 'warmer' part of Michigan!?

Try to log your food first before you eat it - it's VERY eye opening. It always helps me decide if I REALLY need to eat something or not.

    Best wishes! :flowerforyou:
  • I can post my breakfast in the morning but I work out side the home full time and can't post until I get home in the evening.

Can you try to plan the night before? I know if I'm going to have a busy day, I'll log all the food I intend to eat the night before so I know I won't go over. Just a thought... It helps with grocery shopping too.
