Hi I have a Polar FT7 which I love and now my husband wants a HRM. What do you think is the best HRM?
Thanks :)

I don't think you could do any better than a Polar FT7

I had Polar for years and loved it.
Received a Garmin as a gift and like it, but think its a bit of overkill for me. Very tekkie though.

To a certain extent, the HRM choice comes down to how comfortable the person is with the watch features. Most of the basic HRM are the same overall. I have a bias towards Polar (currently using a S725x), but I've been using Polar monitors for the best part of 20 years. Suunto makes a good quality HRM, as do a number of others, depends on your price point. My former girlfriend wound up using a Suunto simply due to the fact that the menus were easier for her to navigate than the Polar ones. Find somewhere that stocks several different brands and fiddle with the watches, one will shine as the most intuitive.

Been reviewing these Polar HRM's for almost a week now and growing into an obsession. I've never owned a HRM but I've narrowed it down to the Polar FT7 black/red. It appears to have all the basic features i'm looing for. which is Calorie Expendeture and BPM. all the other things it does is just icing on the cake without getting to fancy into the top models that have feature's i'd probably wouldn't use anyway.

Anyways thought I'd google in this search and I was pleasently surprised that MFPs are enjoying their FT7 models. Hope to order mine from heartratemonitersusa.com within the next week. Training is going to be so different from here on out.. Can't wait!

Only other comparison was "The zone trainer" from Timex. didn't care too much for it besides the fact that it features indiglo illumination. I also chose the said websight for the excellent can't be beat price with free shipping, and the fact that it's a proffesional business that will have no problem with exchanges or returns if there's an issue. only $10 over average ebay price with peace of mind :P

I, too, became obsessed with researching HRMs! So addicting and an overwhelming amount of information! lol.

I purchased a Polar F4 last night. Haven't set it up yet, so I can't give review. Best wishes on your journey to fitness:-)

Yes! I finally ordered it last night. The Polar FT-7 Mens (black/silver) I really like the black/red one but the readings don't appear to be as vivid from a distance. Hope to get it in by Friday. $76 Heartratemonitersusa

It's a piece of wee to set up, the FT4, so easy seriously. I got one a short while back, set it up, had no problems with it on the treadmill. Then I lost some pounds and was loathe be have to change my weight on the HRM, so I put it off (because I am a technophobic idiot lol), however, I shouldn't have worried, it was as easy to change my weight on it as it was to set it up in the first place.

I luffs my little HRM

Did the research. You asked the best so here you go:
For fat loss and regular weight training/cardio is Polar FT80.
For performance (athletes and very active people) Polar RS800CX.
Remember, I was looking for the most accurate calorie counting HRM with the best features.
    Hope that helps.
