ok, so today i stepped on the scale and i am UP 1.1lbs from the same time YESTERDAY! how is this possible?
its not that TOM, i drank most of my water yesterday and didnt go over in cals. the only thing is i had some indian food last night - would that be too much sodium and thus possibly increase water weight?
i know i shouldn't fret about day to day changes but it is SO FRUSTRATING going up and down in the same four or five pounds! GAHHH!!

This may be too simple of a solution. Don't weigh yourself every day.

You already said you know your weight can fluctuate day-to-day.......and just in case you haven't read this somewhere else already, it can be as much as 5 lbs. It's okay. :flowerforyou:

I agree with cmriverside, only weigh once a week if you can manage it, the scale can be a god send and our worst enemy, so best thing to dso is try not to let it rule over you :flowerforyou:

I find that too much sodium can cause an increase of a couple of pounds. Watch your intake

I'm a scale addict as well & it takes awhile to get used to seeing the scale fluctuate in all directions, but you will learn what makes it go up like that. For example....INDIAN FOOD! It will take a couple days to flush all that out of your system. Drink a lot of water over the next couple days & aim for lower sodium foods.

Think of it this way, the only way you could have gained a pound in a day is if you went 3500 calories OVER your maintenance calories. That's a heck of a lot of food! It isn't "real" weight so try not to fret. :flowerforyou:

thanks - great advice! i didn't eat a lot of the indian food and only health bits like fish tandoori - but i was very thirsty when i got in so i know that it must have been high in salt!
i know, i definitely didnt go over by 3500!! what a funny thought. will keep that in mind, thanks !:flowerforyou:

This is one of the most common kind of threads and it is kind of amazing and I understand your frustration....if I could, I would have all scales dissapear or stop working...The Day the Earth Stood Still..well the scales anyway....

Weight is just a number...I know it sounds hippy and newage or whatever but adopting this lifestyle of fitness and sensible eating and getting in touch with our bodies is a really nice thing and when your focus changes to becoming one with your body and gicing your body good clean fuel, the unwanted weight comes off and the number on the scale becomes a secondary focus point. Shift your focus towards getting your body clean and happy and the number on the scale will eventually be of litle importance.

Until then...take River's advice...dont even weigh that often...the body fluctuates which is agood thing

I weigh myself before and after and do the math...for some reason I can't go til after breakfast.

Point being, poop can weigh quite a lot. If you worry about 1 lb, you will never pull through with this lifestyle, because that happens allllll the time.
