I have been doing so good on exercising and counting calories but yesterday a coworker and i went out for a drink and some tortilla soup. I think the soup was an ok option because it doesnt seem to be extremely high in calories, but i ended up blowing my calorie allowance even after i starved myself all day ( i had an orange and about 8 cashews for lunch) so that i could go out! Why do i feel so guilty for going like 100 calories over my 1200 calorie limit? a few friends told me my limit seems too low. i am trying to lose about a lb and a half a week.

if you have a small amount to lose, try changing to 1 pound per week weight loss
1200 is too low for me, it was ok for a couple of months in the beginning because a had a lot to lose
i now have about 20 pounds to lose, so i have changed it to 1 pound per week and i can eat 1460 calories
hope this helps :flowerforyou:
ps 100 cals over on any one day is NOT that bad at all, in fact it will keep your motabolism guessing, which is what you want! xx0 -
Your mantra says it all - today is a new day.
Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow.
You went over 100 calories? You probably laughed them off if you were out having fun.
I too think that 1200 is a bit too low. I would recheck your calorie intake.
Don't be so hard on yourself - you stumbled yesterday but you can start fresh today.0 -
I'd feel guilty for starving my body all day. It didn't do anything wrong.
Losing 1.5 lbs a week isn't appropriate for everyone. The closer you are to your goal weight, the more slowly you have to lose, especially if you're already lean. Your body runs on hormones, not math. You have to be patient, give it fuel, and exercise.0 -

i am trying to lose about 13 lbs. i do tend to feel a bit light headed if i dont have a granola bar or something in between meals. i am apparently within my ideal weight range already but i would like to be on the lower end of it. maybe i need to switch to losing a lb a week? thanks for all your encouragement and advice0

seriously, try 1 lb a week. You may be surprised. If you have worked out before and are pretty fit, 1200 may not be enough to even keep your body running in sleep mode! I have a friend who tested out at 2200 a day!! OMG??
Point is, your body may not want to let go of the last 5 or 10. Jillian calls them vanity pounds, because the body wants them and we DONT:laugh:
When I increased my cals to 1400 a day I started to lose again. It took a few weeks, but it did work
Good luck to you! Check out threads by Banks or SHBoss......he has some great stuff on this subject0 -

I think it sounds like you need a more specific goal...at this point, you're starving yourself in order to eat a specific food that you want and feeling lightheaded between meals, all for a scale number that tells you nothing about your body composition. Is it really the number? Or is it your muscle definition? Waist/thigh circumference? You want to look more tight? If you were to lose 13 lbs, but half of it was muscle, would you still be happy with the 13 lb loss? Creating a specific goal will help you make better food and exercise choices.0 -
Even if you're not exercising 1300 calories for the whole day is okay! Possibly it did your metabolism some good!0

i just did it the one time yesterday...after she asked me to go out after work.
i am not one to ever starve myself...trust me!! i am trying to make good choices and hopefully lose the weight i want to lose along the way. i have been exercising regularly and have just been living a healthier lifestyle all the way around. i will add on about 200 calories a day and see how i feel and what the results are. By the way i did eat breakfast, i just had a granola bar for a snack and an orange and cashews for lunch...i didnt starve myself ALL DAY! just wanted to specify0
