Hi! My name is Kathy and I just joined this board. I am 35 years old, married, and a mom of three. I am hoping to lose about 13 pounds to be back at the weight I was when I got married almost 14 years ago. I am not overweight but am headed that way - calculating my BMI showed me I am just a couple of pounds away from being considered overweight. I have terrible eating habits. (I will be so embarrassed if people could see what I put in my food for today, just for breakfast! I realized I ate almost all of my calories for today already!) I drink no water and live on diet coke. I know I need to change these habits or I am going to be overweight and very unhealthy. So, I'm just looking for support and hope to meet a few friends in my same boat! Kathy

Welcome Kathy! You are at the right place with MFP! There is tons of support and new ideas here. I know where you are coming from with not drinking any water! I used to put away about 6 regular cokes on a daily basis... more if it super hot outside! I have managed to get myself down to 1 a day and I'm just about ready to let that one go. You can indeed let go of it! I have found that when i want to put something into my mouth that has a little flavor, it doesn't have to be food! I piece of sugarless gum does the same thing with only a couple of calories! (and the flavor lasts A LOT longer than a cookie would!) You can do this!0

This is a friendly place where you'll be supported every step of the way...there's thousands of members on here willing to help and support you through the decision you've made!
The calorie calculator & food diary are great tools and once you change your eating habits (which isn't an easy thing to do...I know) you'll do great! Also, make sure you get on some sort of exercise program (whether it's joining a gym or just going for brisk walks)...that'll help you out huge!
I've only been here 3 weeks (coming up on 4 weeks) and I'm loving it here! I've lost 12 pounds (with a long way to go still...I want to drop 70 pounds!) and I've never felt better! The same thing will happen for you!

Hello and good luck! Your lucky to be catching yourself so early in the game. My advice...drink LOTS of water. What is great about your case is once you drop soda out of your diet you will immediately see results. Have fun0
