Both diabetes and hypertension runs on both sides of my family and at 23 I'd like to start early with monitoring my intake. I do little things like eat sugar free jello or I'll drink some crystal light to watch my sugar intake but when it comes to watching my sodium I'm pretty clueless. I was wondering if there was any items I could buy in a grocery store that are both low sodium and delicious or at least tasty?

If you are a cereal person, Kellogg's Froasted Mini Wheats (a new variety of flavors) have ZERO sodium. Not so good on sugar though!
My favorite is the cinnamon streusel.0 -
I tend to not cook with salt at all, even when boiling veggies or pasta. I keep my sodium intake low.
You really need to read labels when you are shopping. That is the only way you can be certain0 -
It seems thats all I do now is read labels. Haha. Cooking is not my strong point so a lot of my food is frozen meals or boxed dinners and all of that contains high amounts of sodium. I never realized how quickly it all added up until I started logging all my food. My sugar is usually pretty good its really the salts I have problems with. And it doesn't help that I have a salty tooth rather than a sweet tooth. :blushing:0

I love Frosted Mini Wheats! Nice choice. I'll have to branch out and try some of the other flavors as well. Thanks.0 -

I'm with you on that, I couldn't and still can't believe my sodium intake - without adding any!!!:noway: I also have a salty tooth as opposed to a sweet tooth myself. I have quite an addiction to sunflower seeds and licking the shell when opening:grumble: Sadly enough I run in the high 3,000 range and this could obviously be what is holding my weighloss back.0
