Last year I heard about the Spartan race series. At the time I was still way over weight but already on the road to a slimmer & healthier me.
in the back of my mind since hearing about this race was that I would give it a try this year. I have come a long way since I started my new life style. And, today \i took the next step. I went running. Not too long or hard but it is the next step in my preparation to participate in the Spartan Race when it comes to my area this spring.

This is my New Year's resolution.

Has anyone out there run this race?

If so, how did it go?

I have not run this race (yet) but have decided that this is my next fitness goal (next race is June). Originally, I thought I would run a 10k or half marathon, but after a chat with my trainer who knew I hated running, he suggested looking at other options that would still be a marker celebration of my progress so far (I've lost 68 lbs so far, and have 32 more to go).

What I like about the Spartan Race is while it is a physical challenge and a feat to finish, it is still in the spirit of fun (of course it is competitive for some). Heck, its a beer garden party afterwards! (at least my local one!)

So - there is the Spartan sprint, which is 5k, and the Super (12k) [sorry, I am in Canada] and they even have 48 hour ones! Spent some time looking on youtube, some great video footage of some complete runs =)

Time to start bootcamp (my husband is ex-infantry, so he is getting a kick out of my training).

GOOD LUCK with your race - hope you have a blast!
