I am a chewing gum addict, but I am on a new diet starting from tomorrow and cannot chew gums at all. I am looking for replacement, if something like a chewing gum without taste and calories exist, I just just need to chew something. Please do not tell me to drop the habit, it's either chewing food or something else with me.
Thanks for all advice.

This is going to sound crazy... but... TeaTree Toothpics. They have this clean minty taste that keeps your breath fresh and you can chew on them for hours. These helped me stop smoking and they are an amazing treat0

Why no gum, that's an odd thing to get rid of?0
-
I occasionally buy something called "Licorette" which is a no/low calories sugar free licorice pastille. I don't usually eat anything labeled "sugar free" or with those weird ingredients, but I love black licorice, so for me it's a little treat every once in a while to suck on one. I also find that drinking lots of water and tea helps me. You might consider (if your diet allows) finding a low or no calorie mint that you enjoy to suck or chew.0

I guess if you're chewing enough the calories will add up? Sugar-free gum is only 4 calories a stick though...0 -
tigersword, I am going to be on Kopenhagen Diet, it's 13 days challenge and you cannot eat or drink anything besides what's on the diet menu, if you do you can consider the diet useless.
rainbowbow, thanks will try it, there is nothing worst than nasty habit that I cannot get rid of.0 -
Clearly you'll do what you want... but... I would like to warn you about the effects of very low calorie diets like this one. This is dangerous and any loss you may make will only be re-gained. This also is counter-productive for your metabolism as it will put your body into starvation mode.
The only way ANY diet works is by decreasing your intake of calories so that you burn more than you ingest. When you consume too few calories your body thinks it is starving and will try desperately to keep any fat you have. There is no special trick to this particular diet that "chewing gum will make it useless". Period.
Just my advice. It may be counter-productive to all the hard work you have done. And you dont deserve that.

It's alright, I don't intend to gain it back, once I'll finish it, I'll be on very light protein diet. Plus I am starting to work out regularly as well. I know starving myself won't work, tried it few times, and it was useless, lost a little bit weight then gained it all back immediately, because I didn't keep a track of what I'm eating. It's time to change bad habits0

You know starving won't work, yet you're going to starve yourself with this diet? It would really be better to start making healthy changes that you'll be able to maintain. That's the best way to lose weight and keep it off.0 -
I just googled the Copenhagen diet. Wow, good luck with that! Sounds brutal.0

i've been in copenhagen, twice. beautiful city. made entirely out of legos. never heard of that diet though.0

a 5 cal piece of gum will not render your diet useless, no matter what they say!0

This diet working correctly only when you comply it very restrict.
First 3 days are very smooth and light your body is preparing to have less of calories you are very sleepy but every morning you are very fresh. Morning coffee is very fresh but don’t give you any strength all comes from your cache…
Day 5th and 6th you start feel very hungry and week and you must remember it’s only about 600 calories. You have to drink a lot of water to cheat your stomach but these days are very harmful. I lost some weight about 3 kilos.
Day 7th - the hardest day, contains only two meals. It’s better for you not go to work. I stayed at home, was watching TV and relaxing and eat very slowly… I was thinking that next week there are only 6 days.
Days 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th are also hard days but your body start to get used to lack of calories and changes its own global energy administration. Your body starts getting thinner more quickly. I’ve lost another 9 kilos.
Day 12th and 13th - end of the diet. Your organism changed economy and you are not tired so much but you are still very weak and receptive for illnesses. I lost another 3 kilos… The end has come … I was very happy that I survive till the end.
You must remember that this diet changes your metabolism so you don’t have to eat much after it because “YOYO” effect can catch you. If you will eat the right portion of calories about 1500-2000 you shouldn’t get fat. I lost about 15 kilos. I weighted about 110 and now I’m about 94 and don’t get up.... So best wished and try.
I take this diet with my friends... so it was easier for me

Err...what?? Are you effin' kidding me?? :noway:0 -
This diet looks fantastic.
Could you take before and after pics?
(Make sure to get close ups of your blacked out eyes on day 14, those are a sure sign your losing weight and getting healthy)
I can see how a dozen calories worth of chewing gum could F'up this diet, considering that would be more than you eat for most of the meals per day.
If you start working out, let us know how your workout intensity is on day 14 as well, I'm sure it will be through the roof!..0 -
Google:
"Weight Loss - Chewing Gum
Good news for gum chewers! Chewing gum and fat loss have now been linked by a recent study performed at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota. Does gum chewing really burn enough calories to make a difference? Depending on how often you chew gum, the answer is yes. The Minnesota researchers concluded that chewing gum increases your metabolism (the rate at which you burn calories) by 20%. On average people in the study burned 11 more calories per hour than those that did not. Now, 11 calories for each hour of chewing gum does not sound like a lot, but over the course of a year that amounts to thousands of calories, or approximately 10 lbs.!
"Chewing of calorie-free gum can be readily carried out throughout the day, and its potential effect on energy balance should not be discounted. I'm not sure that many people would want to chew a big wad of gum all day long. But it does illustrate that small changes in daily activities, even something as trivial as chewing gum, can have a significant impact on weight loss," said Dr. James Levine, of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and co-authors.
Just make sure the gum you chew is calorie free.

Yes. This is a so-called "pro-anorexia" diet. If you want to change bad habits, I'd advise (from personal experience) to steer clear from eating disordered behavior.0 -

And... not the least of the craziness is that there are so many spelling and grammatical errors, I think the person that wrote the diet was delirious from total lack of nutrition and sustenance... Sounds like the ideal diet... if you want to die. They actually recommend that you don't go to work?! I think I'd rather take the slow and steady way... Wow. I've never heard of such a ridiculous diet. In fact--it gives the word 'diet' a bad name!!!!0 -
One of my friends has been on this diet, lost 22lbs. I am so fat I can't look at myself any more. I need to make few extreme changes for better good in future
I will take pics and post them after I finish the diet. I am not really worried about black eyes, because I have naturally smokey eyes and I am insomniac, sometimes I don't sleep for a few days straight, but not that often thought. I am sure I am able to handle this diet. I haven't been more determined in my life to do something.
mamitosami this website is not the one I am using, this diet is actually quiet popular in other countries, as I speak polish fluently I used this website http://kopenhaska.com, same as my friend used.

Good luck. I did something similar a few years ago and I ended up in the emergency room for hours because I blacked out and hit my head on a counter top. To each their own.0

There is no quick fix. You may lose weight, and be in a really bad mood for two weeks, and then guess what......you'll gain it all back plus some. And your body will hate you.
Good luck with that.0 -

HGC is very popular here but that doesn't mean it will benefit a person in anyway.0 -
The diet you linked is A LOT different than the standard copenhagen diet that comes up when googled.
If you take the sugar out of the coffee in the morning, you'll allow yourself enough calories to chew your gum.
On to my other thoughts..
WTF. How many women can eat 700 grams of chicken for lunch along with a side salad? 1400 calories and 200 grams of protein for lunch?
You would be much further ahead just eating a sensible diet.0 -

Sugar free gum. Sugar free bubble gum. It keeps my mouth busy, release my nervous stress and burn calorie0
