edited October 6 in Fitness and Exercise
I just signed up for my first half marathon last week. It is on May 6th and I am super excited. I would like to get a group going for support, training tips and progess and was wondering if anyone else wants to join me.

I am going to start the Hal Higdon novice 12 week training program.

I will join! I am planning on using Galloway's Runner & Walker training plan: http://www.jeffgalloway.com/training/half_marathon.html

I am super slow, 13 to 14 minute mile slow, lol, but I eventually get there.

I'm training for my third in march which I am hoping to PR. I have another on may and am looking for one in April. I have also signed up for my second marathon in October. Trying to find a training plan I can like. I will probably combine Hal Higdon and FIRST.

Are you going to create a group. Please add me.

I used an App with the Higdon training plan for my last half. It worked really well just to be able to look on my phone for my mileage for the day.

Linnea, I'm running a half the day before you do and using the same program to train!

I've run half marathons before, but in the very distant past. I love the 10k distance but want to take several months to slowly bridge the difference between 6 and 13 miles so that I can really enjoy the race in May.

I joined a half marathon training group last Fall, but didn't chime in much since I was focused on shorter distances then--so thanks for starting this thread up. I'll look around the new groups, too, but am glad to find this here.

I'm in the middle of that same program, just finished week 5 ( think) my half (3rd one for me) is Feb 19, in Austin. I honestly think the half is my favorite distance.

I'm running my second half in April and will use Hal's Novice program again. I am doing the program with a friend this time around (doing the long runs and the race together) and am really looking forward it that part of it! Good luck!

My husband's nieces are encouraging me to run a half marathon in May as well. I ran a 21 km training run a few weeks ago, so I know I can do it. But I'd like to be a bit more prepared for it. I don't have a lot of room in my schedule for super long training runs, and I am currently getting used to a lift, so it's going to be a while before I can run that far with the lift. But I'm interested as well.

Great! I printed up the Novice program with Hal hidden and will start tomorrow. I'll look for the group already started and for those interested we can start a group once I figure out how to do it...lol.
I've never run a half and honestly the farthest I've ever run is 7 miles so I'm looking forward to the challenge and glad I found some new friends to share the experience with :)

I've printed off the novice program as well and rejigged it to fit my M-W-F-Sa running schedule, metric measurements, etc. My half-marathon is May 26, so the target date to start the 12 week program is Feb 26. I had wanted to give myself a couple of months of non-training time (finished my last one just before Christmas) so this is perfect. Lots of time to get used to my lift and start running longer distances again.

Let me know what group you are going to be on, and I will join it.
