So...I'm facing a problem, to say the least. I lost a lot of weight through 2011, I lost 43 pounds in total. 138 to 95 pounds. Now, I don't exactly want to be 95...I want my maintenance weight to be at 101 pounds. I'm trying to gain a pound by thursday...for my doctor, but in a healthy way. However I'm struggling to get over 1000 calories per day! It's awful! I'm a vegetarian, so does anyone have any (healthy) ideas to get me to gain by thursday? please?

Replies

  • Change your settings to gain a pound a week and then eat that and maybe more If you only have till thursday

Nuts, especially almonds, are a great source of protein and calories for a vegetarian!

Your diary doesn't look like that of a person trying to gain... if you truly want to gain, drink whole milk. Stop using "light" versions of your bread, whipped cream, cheese, etc. Why are you opting for low-calorie versions?

This ^^^ sigh. To OP: You're trying to gain eating 600-800 cals a day?
  • Ensure!
  • i looked at your food dairy for only like a week and saw way too many 600 something cal days. your only 18 and this worries me. :frown:
do you feel like your thoughts about food have gotten too controlling?
maybe asking your dr for a referral to a nutritionist would be a good idea.

You definitely need to eat real food. Drop the low fat versions of food. Get rid of the Special K and eat some granola (check out the different brands - some are healthier than others). Add some quinoa for more protein and healthy calories. Buy some soy ice cream - Trader Joe's vanilla is yummy. Throw in some avocado and dried fruit. Use real maple syrup or honey on your pancakes.

I'm kind of with an ED...i'm seeing a psychologist and nutritionist the 11th. The really recent low calorie meals are because I had surgery not so long ago on my knee and the meds they put me on were screwing with my appetite.

Well good for you for getting help. Everyone already gave you good suggestions. Avocados are a great option for extra cals. You can also add cheese, yogurt, nuts. Stop eating the low fat versions of foods. :)

    Good luck with recovery!
