Hi! I'm a 25yr old mom with 2 kids under 5. I have been trying to live a healthier life style the past 4 months. I was down to 219, but gained some weight back the beginning of November. My biggest problems are pizza, & Dr. Pepper. I started working out hard core (for me) 2 wks ago and am trying to start running. We now eat mostly organic foods and try to buy locally. I am have now started a mostly vegan diet as of the end of November.

Wow, you have made a drastic change from pizza and Dr. Pepper to a mostly vegan diet. That is something to be proud of, most definitely! Maybe I should take some tips from you! :) I know how it is though when you have kids under 5, (I have a 2 1/2 year old) and trying to balance being a mommy, cleaning the house, getting dinner done, and whatever else you need to do is a challenge. At least you are making the changes now while your kids are young and how are they liking the diet? I really want to try to eat more fruits and veggies and do away with red meat but I always am scared my son might not like the change even though I am sure he will. Congrats on the weight loss!

    Thanks. :)
It started when my friend who has gone from a size 4 to a 24, told me to watch this movie called Food Inc on Netflix. You should really watch it. You will not want to eat meat. At least any that is not organic and free range. I also watched Food Matters, & Forks Over Knives.
That's what got me REALLY motivated.

Soda is a HUGE problem for me. I was down 8 lbs in 2 months and then thought I could start drinking regular soda again and within 6 months it was like I was back to old habits and gained all the weight back, so I'm starting over.

Do you like any of the diet sodas? Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry is pretty good, and it will help keep away those useless TONS of cals.

With being almost vegan, how do you get your protein?

    Good luck in your journey!!

I don't drink diet because the sweetness are bad for you.
I do have a soda maybe once or twice a month, but I'm sticking to water & tea.
I started eating crappy and gained 6lbs back. :/
Kale actually has more protein than beef. I add it to things like Mac n cheese.
The vegan cheeses are pretty good. I was scared to try them. Quinoa has a lot of protein also. You can use it instead of rice.
Also the veggie meats have a lot of protein in them.
We were scared to try those also, but like the ground meat in spaghetti sauce... you can't even tell.
I just made stir fry with veggie chicken and brown rice tonight and my picky husband loved it.
We use almond milk instead of cows.
